So I was finally able to begin the tear down on the GSX after it sitting for about 4 1/2 months. I was doing a highway pull one day and all of a sudden the car began to lose power big time and sound like an STi without an exhaust so i knew something was wrong.
I took the car to my Dad's shop to park it, we did a compression test on it and sure enough there was no compression on Cylander #1.
So yesterday I was able to get it into the shop and pull the head off and try to figure out what was wrong with it. Well come to find out i blew an exhaust valve to peices !!!.
Now the question is what should I do, how should I fix this problem ? Should I just put new valves in it and slap it back on the car ? or should I pick up a stage 5 or 6 head from DSMparts. I also want to do cams while im this burried into the car what should I go with I kinda wanna do 272's do I need bigger valve springs and retainers does the head need to be machined for these parts I honstly dont know anything about the machining end of the engine so all help is appreciated.
Stage 5
-Hot tanked
-Pressure checked
-Competition valve job *PLUS*
-Stage V port work
-New valve stem seals
-SS swirl polished, and undercut valves
-New guides
-Crower springs
-Titanium retainers
-Decked head surface
-New exhaust manifold studs
Stage 6
-Hot tanked
-Pressure checked
-Competition valve job *PLUS*
-Stage V port work
-New valve stem seals
-1mm over nitrided, polished,
-New guides
-Crower springs
-Titanium retainers
-Decked head surface
-New exhaust manifold studs
Or if there is any other place with good deals on heads and all the stuff listed up there let me know.
