how much for clutch install

I just got an ACT2100 with a 6puck and was wondering how much would it cost to install it.
anyone know of a good place in the chicago area with a good price. i know that ams would do it but they're charging like $600, but i know there good so it must be worth it. but does anyone else know of a good decent price place to get it done around here in the chicago area.

to be honest with you id just call around to a bunch of places and get some estimates.. everyone will be a bit different just find a shop with a good rep

Same price in PA for a shop. It's about $250-300

Around here, I was quoted $400-$500. These were really nice, clean, reputable shops though. You could find a backyard mechanic to do it for much less. My local dealership wanted $750. Ouch!

A 2G FWD Clutch Job is $374 Labor if you buy the parts here. $429.00 Labor if you bring the clutch. It is $65 to cut the flywheel and $50 in trans fluid. That comes to $544 if you bring the clutch with you and $489 if you buy the clutch here.

Take whatever a shop rate is and multiply it by 7. That is the length of time the books state it will take.

Performance shops are cheaper to get business and they have a better general idea of what to expect. Just because you take it to a Dealership, doesn't mean the yukapuck that is doing the work is knowledgeable. I know many guys that work at dealerships and are still in mechanic school. They could or could not have a clue.

Actually according to Micahs calculations, we book 5.5 hours for that job. We charge $68 an hour for shop supplied parts and $78 an hour for customer supplied parts. Thats very cheap considering dealers are usually near or over $100 an hour. I even heard a very popular DSM shop in the NorthEast charged over $90 an hour.

Considering we run a shop in one of the 3 most expensive cities to live in in the country, our rates are rather cheap. So cheap in fact that costs and overhead will probibly eventually force us to raise it.

P.S. Its so bad around here that even McDonalds charges $.38 for drink refills. Ive never seen a McDonalds in my life charge for refills before I moved to Chicago.
