How long have you had it?
What problems, if any, have you had to fix?
Have you modified the car? If so, what have you done?
How many miles have you had it and how many are currently on it?

Would you buy it again if you could do it all over again? If not, why?

I'm mainly looking for replies from GS-T, GSX & TSi owners. ;)
 
1) A year and a half
2) Bought it w/ a blown turbo and water pump, took that out and the T-belt when i bought it. Besides that, little stuff like the shifter broke :|
3) Mods in profile
4) 80,421 when i bought it, 103,957 now.
5) Currently looking for an AWD talon ;)

Overall excellent daily driver, never had more fun w/ another car. Plus scaring the shit out of girls that get thrown back from the turbo is priceless :thumb:

5) probobly not, as now i realize its a 1.8l :(

i know u were lookin for Turbo responses, but i am bored :p
 
1) bought it the end of September, 97 eclipse gs-t
2) about the end of october the stock t25 turbo blew, also has some rust on the sunroof (but haven't fixed that yet)
3) bought a Garrett big t28 to replace the turbo, k&n FIPK, turbo timer w/ boost gauge
4)76,900, have 77,100 on it now
5) sweet car... I live in ontario, where mitsubishi didn't come to canada til early 2003, so its a definit head turner... also all the punk kids with their hondas all wanna race you every chance they get, and I just leave them in the dust :D

1. Had it for nearly 1 full year.
2. (sigh) A Major Oil Leak, A Crack somewhere by the firewall that caused water to leak into my car and ruin my carpet, replace the tranny. (I caused the tranny)
3. Yes, Shep Tranny, Act2600+xact flywheel, 3" exhaust, ic pipes, mbc, intake, bov.
4. Bought it with 140k. Now has 160k.

Also my t-2-small is starting to blow smoke. :cry:

1. 3 months (an 94 AWD tlaon)
2. couple mods, custom intake custom exhaust act 2600, some other smaller goodies
3. i got it at 65k miles, its now just over 68k miles
4. Hell yeah I would do it again, turboooo is fuuuuuun
5. timing belt went(fixed), electrical went(fixed), radiator is starting to leak bad(need to get fixed), boost creep up the but(need to fix), idle problems(need to fix), expensive car to maintain but happy when i see the timeslips low 13's with 400 into it, next season ill be at 12.9 with the new clutch and fpr and new 255 fp, maybe even a nice fmic :D

1. 2.5 years (98 eclipse nt)
2. couple mods intake exhaust, ported throttle body + intake mani
3. got it at about 68k miles put almost 20k miles on it
4. Well... 2gs are s-e-x-y beyond belief, but turbo is funner! and fwd sux
5. nothing ever broke ever, EVER!!! I loved the reliability

1. 8 years/second owner.
2. Minor maintenance problems like plugs, belts, gaskets, mounts, seals etc.
3. Minor mods included freebies, and turbo upgrade and... hell see my mod list.
4. Had 93k at purchase, I added an additional 114k and counting.
5. Hell yeah I'd buy it again and hell yeah, I'd buy another one if I can find an AWD in good shape.
 
1). Ive had mine for 5 months
2). I have a worn alternator belt and i blew up a heater hose. Other then that, no mechanical(sp?) problems at all yet.
3). EGR block-off plate, Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch, MBC, Free mods, K&N, No balance-shafts. Thats all for performance wise.
4). Well its got a freshly put in JDM engine that had around 30k when i got it and ive put probably about 2000 on it or so. But the body has like 150,xxx and it had a lot of hail damage but its being fixed as i have time.
5). Yes i would, but id like to get a more reliable car b/c im fixing to start modding a lot and it will break b/c its a DSM and id rather have it as a 2nd car just to mess around with and have something more reliable as a daily driver.
 
1). I had it for about 11 monthes now. 1 year in march
2). New Tranny, rebuilt head, replaced clutch 3 times due to faulty clutch spring in the Spec Stage II clutch cevlar disc, head gasket, cv shafts, lower ball joints, clutch master clyinder, spun bearing in my Big16G 2 weeks ago, another clutch after turbo conversion. I think thats it.
3).Yes Its modified. Alot actually. When it was N/T I had a Spec Stage II clutch, lightened flywheel, custom intake, test pipe, no muffler straight pipe, UR cam gears. Since I turbo'd my car I used a Big16G turbo (now using 14b), Race Ind. UICP, Turbo XS Type H BOV, ACT 2100 clutch, lightened flyweel, Blitz SBC, Apex-i AFC, Data logger pocket logger from SBR, Walbro 255lph fp, stock 450's, K&N filter, custom waste gate dump. I think thats it. Your a true DSM'er when you forgot all of your mods:thumb:
4). Bought it with 98K miles and now it has 123xxx miles.
5). I would deffinetly buy another one. I have oned 4. But this time it will be AWD:talon:
 
Timing Belt snapped @ 102k
Transmission exploded @ 106k

Currently my car keeps failing smog due to the computer needing a recall serviced.
 
* I've had it since '99

* Problems: 1 replaced headgasket & valve cover gasket twice
2 some weird blinker problem
3 still burns oil from where?, i have yet to find out (not major)
4 replaced snapped driving belt
5 replaced the overflow container for antifreeze twice b/c it came off it's lil excuse for a "holder" and got a hole ripped in it by a belt.
6 loose inner tie rod
7 small leak in evap so CEL comes on periodically (gonna try changing gas cap)

*Not many mods...cold air intake, platinum plugs, wires, strut bars

*almost 85k on it now...not sure what it had when i started driving it.

*I'd buy a turbo 2g dsm that's not too heavily modded...so yeah. But when it comes down to the day I really am ready to buy a new car, I'll probably be a traitor and get something else.

yeah yeah yeah i'm n/t.... we have problems too though.

2) Bought it for $2600 with something wrong. it wouldnt start. Replaced the ECU and all is happy!
3) enuf
4) around 160,000
5) I like it, but it pisses me off
 
1992 GSX 6bolt/4bolt
1. 3 months
2. had a bad clutch when i got it, replaced for cost of labor
turbo is on its way out(time for some more upgrades!)
3. just a k&n for now
4. 128,000 when i got it, now has 131,000
5. yes definately, its just so fun to drive...doesn't hurt i only paid $1800 and its in really good shape other than the turbo now.

1. Since 97
2. T-belt went out EARLY, and misc gremlins from mods
3. Modified the crap out of it
4. Bought it with under 20k, and have 113k on it now.

I would do it all over again, minus some of the more questionable mods (rice, ill advised free mods, etc).
 
1) Had my talon since Sep. 03
2) Some electrical problems, but caused my faulty wire in my aftermarket stereo setup-Not cars fault, only the sucka fool that installed the system.
3) Added after market spoiler, and Injen Intake system
4) Purchased with 30k, and now has 41k
5) Sure i would buy it again, I loved the feeling of buying car. (First night i had it, some girls were checkin me out and we ended up pulling over and talking for like an hour-numbers exchanged-That never happend in my HONDA)

2. owned by lady nothing worng with it, cept the ### dolphin on the mirror and the ### seat covers :barf: o also coolant hoses went and rad cap leaked, o and i replaced the thermo for no reason

5. if i did it all over no i wouldnt buy it cause its an Auto and 2 days later i seen a manual for sale :cry: :cry:

2. balance shaft belt broke,jumped timing belt, bent valve
3. mods in proflie
4. 32,xxx... now 58,003 just hit 58,000 today

Yes i would, i bought a 1997 GSX while my 1998 was down.
 
No problems for almost a year... then I decided to do some real mods other then intake and exhaust.... threw a turbo kit and she has had 15 different problems at a time ever since....

But its all worth it :thumb:

2. Ball joint recall, clutch line
3. I've only added a boost controller, cat-back, and test-pipe(16g and downpipe awaiting install)
4. I've put 21,000 on it, it has 154,xxx on it.
5. I would most likely buy this car again, it has been reliable as hell. If I would've found an AWD for the same price though I would've jumped on that, obviously.

2 None, nothing to really go wrong

3 Yes, basic stuff, not a racer-boy

4 77k - 80k

Quite of few of you seem to had several problems with yours. Makes me think they are not so reliable. :(

What do stock 97-99 GS-Ts & GSXs usually run in the 1/4?

90 Talon TSi AWD:

A year. Recently sold it.
Replaced engine, alternator, and clutch.
It had a Big16G with most supporting mods and no fuel tuning.
Bought it with 119k and sold it with 129k.
If I were to buy a 1G again, I would definetely not buy a modded one.

99 Eclipse GSX:

A month.
No problems.
Intake, IC Piping, BOV, MBC, Centerforce Clutch, Fidanza Flywheel.
62k.
I'd buy this car again in a heartbeat. Its perfect...besides the color (burgundy = :barf: )
 
I've had the '94 about four years, had to do a water pump at 110K. Did the belts at the same time.

Got the '95 just over a year ago, it needed a clutch and the AC fixed when I got it.
 
Hey, I also have a 94' lt1-z28 and I do like it a lot but it is not near as fun as my 90 awd talon, it is my 2nd turbo dsm in 3 yrs. I have to drive the z28 at least once a week to keep the battery charged, that is how often I drive it, or when I am working on the awd.
DSM cars are so freaking fun,$300 in a few mods,intake,exhaust,boost controller(to raise boost) and you can run low 13s easy, I have seen awd dsm's with just boost controller run high 13. Man there is nothing like them. And yea some do have idle probs,(easy to fix) and time belts break(maintanence yea) Anything will break if you tear it up hard enough. And the guys who have non-turbo cars thier opinions don't count because they just don't know. Get one but do yourself a favor and take the time and find an awd.
