I am getting ready to rebuild my 1997 gst because of a rod knock i would like to know about the bottom ends on theses cars.i want to be around 350hp.All i have done to the car is stage two comp cams.28 big turbo,intake,3in pipe. Also why does every one what a 6bolt in place of 7bolt

Bottom line- they're all good until they break.

When you consider that you can usually double the stock horsepower with these cars while remaining fairly reliable on the stock bottom end, you can't complain much. Not many manufacturers can have that claim!

No it would be cheaper to just use some 1G rods. The 1G rod/2G piston I'v seen make over 500hp. His goal is 350hp, hes got some room to grow.

OP dont waste your money on forged internals unless you plan on making over 500hp.

There are more 7bolt (with 2g style rods) 1g motors than 6bolt motors. So you mean '6bolt rod/2g piston' combo. Not '1g rod/2g piston'.
