How fast can you go with, OEM Hood & OEM Latch

I sometimes worry about what would happen if I was going 140mph and the hood flew up . My question is how fast people have went with the OEM hood & Latch? Maybe it's just not a problem, and I shouldn't worry about it, not sure. Any thoughts on this?

I have seen near 140 speeds with mine. I have never heard of this being a problem either.

Ive seen 2gs low 9s and even 8s with an oem hood and no pins.. They will definitely hold up.

You must have a really fast car if it can hit 140mph at the track...cause I know there is no need to go that fast on the streets. unless you have to take a huge dump

or you are on the autoban then the top speed is 147 mph

If you had to take a dump then going 140mph wouldn't help much . 140mph is scary.

I never understood why people always throw out there I" hope he means he was at the track". He never gave a location so just leave it alone. If your hood isn't moving violently while going that fast I would assume it should be fine. Ive been in a friends bmw while moving fast and I saw his hood moving side to side real fast and i asked him if he closed the hood and as soon as he answered "yes" the hood smashed the windshield.

Yea my hood doesn't seem to move at all, so it's probably fine, basically I am trying to figure out if I should get hood pins. I know they are cheap insurance and lots of people will say to just install them and forget about it. But I don't want hood pins, they look ok, but really not my thing I guess. Sounds like I am good and don't need them though.

Im dont know shit about shit when itcomesto body work, but I always thought hood pins was focaron fiber hoods not having the latch on the bottom, and because its so light its going to try to move. I cant see the pins doing a better then the oem latch.

174 mph no pins, on a stock hood. done on a Porsche 911 S Cabriolet, at the annual POC meet @ California Speedway, only to get passed by a Carrera GT doing 200+

I drive 50mph, so I'm not worried . I did have my '96 sebring up to 136mph, and no problems.
