bes oem cf hood?

Yo wassup guys. I just got back from iraq a lil while ago. Anyway my car got backed into before i left iraq and im getting my front end fixed. I just wanted to know if you guys have any recommendations on what c/f hood is the best kind to get for oem style. I'm getting paid in cash for my damage so i thought i'd just get a c/f hood while im at it. Thanks guys!!!

Id go to ebay for this, or just froogle it or search on any search engine thats the way i do all my searches for parts.

VIS makes a pretty high quality carbon hood for the 2g. it is around $500 with shipping depending on your location/shipping rules. Ebay is the best place too look because vendors make that their first stop for selling inventory. good luck.

I also have to agree that vis is probably the best to go with. Be careful if you ebay it becuause you could end up with a "vis style" hood.

Other than my hood that faded and cracked I know of 2 other people that had the same thing happen to their hoods. Stay away from them. All this happened about 8 months after I got it. VIS or NOPI (vendor I got it from) would not do crap about it either. If you are looking for a c/f hood then either look at the ones in the $1,000 range or at least one that has a warranty against flaws of cracking and fading.

Almost all cf hoods require a clear coat to protect it from uv light. Without a clear coat, you will get fading and cracking. Dont blame the manufacturer for something you failed to do.

Well whats that clear stuff that comes on it? You would think that a product designed to be outside in the sun should with stand sun light all by itself



(just playing devils advocate, ive had no problems with VIS personally)

I will be buying a VIS Invader hood for my car. I never heard any problems with VIS til the the previous post complained about fading and cracking

How do you know what I failed to do? And you are saying a "clear coat" is suppose to be sprayed on? They say nothing about taking it to a body shop to have it re-cleared when they sell them! Or were you referring to wax?

the fading is what i was talking about. I was looking at vis but i heard their fitment sucks. I used to be an automotive detailer so i know how to take care of paint...

i might just end up getting a vis...who knows. no one else has any c/f hoods beside vis?

VIS makes a good hood, but if your looking fro cheap supra makes a ok hood, my brother got one it doest have quite the exact same fitment as oem hood but the hood itself has no cracking or fading issues and hes got his for 200 bucks
