Evo CF hood or OEM for the strip?

I got an Evo style carbon fiber hood recently from my friend for $100 because he bought it for his 1G and it obviously doesnt fit. I know it looks ricey but i was wondering if the cooler engine bay temps and lighter wieght (about 20lbs) would offset the increased drag from the vent for any gains in my 1/4 mile times. My intake pulls air from the engine bay. just wondering if any potential gains (if any) are worth taking the hood on and off again for every trip to the track. (im not going to leave it on full time because it looks like it belongs on a honda). My next trip to the strip is wednesday so any feedback would be awesome. thanks.

Well it lightens up your car, and the EVO vented hood creates an air stream that pulls air out off the engine bay to that lowers the temps. Im buddy Rich has one and it looks good with the 97 body styling. i would throuw it on.

You will lighten you car which is good, you will add cool air to the motor which is good, and you wont get any drag from the vent.

It will be better to put it on as long as it doesnt rain cause if it does well then yeah you get it. But for $100 that amazing!

EVO's come stock from Mitsubishi with hood vents, hence the Eclipse EVO style hood.

EVO's don't have problems with rain, snow or dirt, so why should his car?

I left my vents open a few times (it comes with a vent cover) and my K+N filter plus my header heat shield began to rust. im sure the EVO has a mostly rust proof engine bay.

Go for it! Paint in the stock color to make it look nice and smooth!! That would be sweet IMO

My hood is slightly cracked and flexes a little more than normal... do you think painting it would result in cracking the paint as well when the hood flexes? it only flexes when i open or close the hood (which seems to be alot lately) but not while driving.
