Hello im putting a plan together for a guy with a 1st gen, cars in good shape but he has this goal of taking out this cocky local evo. So he approched me wanting me to do some work on his car for him the cars pretty much stock and i asked him what his budget was and he said $1800 it could go up but he knows for sure he's going to at least have that much so i want to know what you guys would recommend be done. And the evo's best time is a 12.91 just so you guys know what he's looking on taking out.

Thanks guys for your time

Oh, well, hes for starters gonna need a full exhaust, O2 housing back, with is like $500 there if you go through Dejon, ummm, upgraded intake, like $150, thats $650, Evo316G, $550, thats $1200, ummm, Wally 190, $100, were up to $1300, find some way to port his stock manifold for free, hell even do that with his stock O2 housing to save $$$, ok, $1300, get bigger injectors, like 550's, hmmm, IDK how much those are, but If he can squeeze enough money to get injectors, a SAFC II, and a logger, he should be good to go.

EDIT: Oh, hes also gonna need a EGT gauge, boost gauge, OP gauge, and...................there might be more but I cant think of it now.

that sounds like a pretty good plan what do you think a decent driver on pump gas could run with that setup?

Umm, I dont know, depends on the boost, but I think he can definatley, confidently hit mid to high 200's as far as HP, I would say it wouldnt be much more than that, maybe 300, hed have to upgrade the intercooler and piping to make more power with that turbo.

definitely exhaust, safc, injectors, fuel pump, and boost controller. the 14b turbo is still a very powerfull turbo and many people have gone into the 12's with it.

is it awd or fwd? does he want it street legal or at the tracks? i got mine down to a 13.10 for only 600 and that was on a fwd at the track but not street legal.

Um, Too run a 12.9 in an awd? All you guys are definatly over doing this list, And prices too.... It can be done for MUCH cheaper.

I ran a 13.0 @ 107 with an exhaust (You can easily unbolt yours) which is FREE.
Race gas $9.00 a gallon.
Walbro pump $90.00
Open element filter ($20.00)
Boost controller ($35) ?

Gut the whole car from the back of the front seats, Back.. Remove the a/c and all other un-needed things also like the bumper supports.. I weight-reducted over 500lbs.

That's what I had, I don't know about everyone else but that is a very short list. There are guys going faster with less then that done.

As for this:

Oh, well, hes for starters gonna need a full exhaust, O2 housing back

No, He does not also need the o2 housing. He can actually also just unbolt the exhaust.

with is like $500

No, You can get one made for $100.00 or cheaper.

ummm, upgraded intake, like $150

Again, Not needed... NO. And definatly not for $150.00

Evo316G, $550

No, Not needed. Max out the stock 14b, Or go as far as you can on the stock injectors with this turbo. With race gas, You'll be set.

Wally 190, $100

$95.00 shipped, Cheaper on ebay I think.

find some way to port his stock manifold for free, hell even do that with his stock O2 housing to save $$$,

Finally, Free..

get bigger injectors, like 550's, hmmm, IDK how much those are, but If he can squeeze enough money to get injectors, a SAFC II,

NO, Race gas and a logger. Max out the stock injectors.

EDIT: Oh, hes also gonna need a EGT gauge, boost gauge, OP gauge,
and...................there might be more but I cant think of it now.

There isn't more, And he doesn't "need" an egt gauge or an oil pressure gauge. He does need a boost gauge though, Which you can get for $20.00 off ebay.

Goodluck.

well you can do what i did for my friends car and he did hit a 12.2 at the track

port the o2 housing - free
port the exhaust manifold - free
i made a new downpipe with 3" mandrel bends - $25
the an exhaust cut out right at the bend - $25
Intake filter and adapter - $50
engine maintenance (plugs, wires, oil) - $75 which included 8mm wires
got rid of the emissions - free
got rid of a/c parts - free
removed everything from the front seats back - free
cut the rear section out and replaced with 20g steel - $30
removed passenger fan for radiatior - free
190lph pump - $95 from ebay
boost gauge - $50 autometer wouldve gone cheaper but he wanted it
home depot boost gauge - $15
5 gallons 116 leaded - $35
safc 1 - $125 off ebay
Dsmchips stage III - $100
act 2600 - $450
flywheel resurface - $50
crushed bov - free
extended slave rod - free made it outta a grade 8 bolt i had laying around
removed front and rear bumper inserts - free
replaced passenger and driver mid windows with lexan - $50
shift bushing metal inserts - $25
short shifter mod - $10
palm m100 and logger cable with software - $50 off ebay
= $1,235

and this got him down to the low 12's just to add we did have to replace maintenance stuff like the clutch master and slave cylinder, the clutch pedal assembly, starter, alternator.

the car and the parts all together costed under 2500 and we got the car for 1000.

this year im gonna work on his suspension hopefully getthing him down to the 11's with minimal mods

ok i just read that u extended ## slave rod for act 2600. im having a problem right now you can read my thread above about act 2600 just installed and not enganging. did you have the same problem and did this fix it. also how did u attach the bolt to it. i could get some all thread from work for free this would work as well. did u have to remove it from master cylinder or what and how do u do that if u did remove it. and i thought people made the rod that pushes on the master cylinder longer not the slave cylinder

LOL I don't see a Timing Belt Job on any of those lists! ;)

haha the reason we bought the car so cheap was because the old owner broke the timing belt, but i had a spare head so i dont count that hehehe

I have a question.. How did you make an exhaust cutout for $25?

just buy it from jegs or summit then weld it on to either a new downpipe, where your cat is, or wherever else all it is, is a pipe split with one side being capped

You said it would be mostly a streetcar. So if he isnt wanting the cutout you might wanna check out how much an exhuast shop will cost just to do something up to the muffler instead of paying 500$ for a catback ya know. Goodluck, im interested in seeing how this turns out.

weld your center differential. it will give more of a 50/50 power split to your rear wheels. you should upgrade the rear axles once you do this. only complaint i heard about this is drop in gas mileage, as the center differential has the rear wheels spinning, which is more friction loss.
