When you spin a rod bearign how do you know thats what happened. Nioses? I was curious about the whole thing. like how it happens and sounds how u no thats what happened

when it happens you know it right away. it is a very loud knocking type sound coming from the bottom end usually caused by insuffient oil supply of oil to the bearing. also, if you drian the oil it will have a copper or bronze metalic color. you might even show a big drop in oil pressure.:barf:

Your rod(s) will be knocking. Don't run it like this; you can damage your motor even more extensively. On the lucky side, you can get away with new bearings (replace them all), new crank & rod(s).

Drain the oil and see how it looks. Depending on what happened, there will be metal shavings in the oil itself. If you don't want to go through the trouble, but want to have it inspected, you can see if you can find an lubricant analysis specialist. There's a shop here in Savannah that can analyze your oil by taking a sample of the oil and your oil filter. They can tell you roughly what happened and if there's anything major to worry about (ie:bearing shavings, cylinder wall shavings, etc.).

If you end up having to replace some internals, go ahead and replace the oil pump and all the local stuff (water pump, timing belt, etc.).
