how do i tell if my 2g is a california car?

i think mine might be but im not sure.. also does anyone know the differences between fed and cali 2g dsms? particularly if 95 fed eprom will work in my cali car if it is in fact californian and if not how to get this to work?
 
I am not sure about the 2G car but I know that with the 1G car, it has to do with the difference in the emissions equipment. For example, a fed 1G car only has the EGR, The Cali 1G has the EGR and an EGR sensor. Also the ECU is equipped to handle the additional emission equipment. If you remove any of the additional sensors while the Cali ECU is in the car, it may throw a check engine light like mine did. I replaced my ecu with a fed ECU and the check engine light went away. Other than the Vacuum diagram for the 2G, I wouldn't know how to truly differentiate between the 2. I know I was able to identify my car by the vacuum diagrams.

Run a carfax on the vin.... It will tell you if it has been previously registered in cali as well as any other place it may have a history
 
I always thought a 2G was equipped with all the extra o2 sensors and emission parts so they could be universal and not custom built for a certain area. I'm not sure, so I'd like to know if there's a difference.
 
We have California emission cars here in RI and we got a few of the laws, too. They're becoming more common everyday. I'm real glad i got OBDII!! :D

You can tell by looking at some of the parts it has. If it has 4 O2 sensors, 2 CC's, or even an extra muffler, You definitley have a Cali spec DSM.

Never heard of it on a 1G or 2G, though. At least around here. Always thought it was 3G and 4G only...:hmm:
