Exactly..at least get yourself an Autometer gauge.

alright a newb question for any1 i guess...not sure if everything is there i need for install can someone post a pic of everything i need just to make sure.. thanks

Just look at any of the above links & read through them. You can kinda figure out everything you need, which isn't much.

i was kinda talking about ...

should everything be included for install besides tools with the gauge..

pretty much all you need is a vacuum hose to go from the gauge to where you tap a vac hose by the intake and a T fitting to tap into it. Also need some wire to hook it up to power and ground. Check the vfaq links that are posted above. I took out the center console and spliced the 12v wire to the light by the cigarette lighter, and grounded it to some metal there as well. Pretty simple install, but read up first. :talon:

VFAQ is your friend.
I hope this helps

if the person you bought the boost controller from bought it new then ask him is he still has the install instructions. I have a turboXS MBC on my car and it hooked up different from how most of the installs on this site show. The wastegate actuator gets hooked up the the bottom and the pressure hose gets hooked up to the side.

so i bought a new boost gauge... an OBX one i ordered off of ebay... now the kit didn't come complete (go figure) and i was wondering if i could use rubber hose to run to my boost gauge from the solenoid T connecter rather than the plastic tubing they provided..

would this still give me an accurate reading?? thanks all

I dont know if it would play a factor...but rubber expands alot easier then plastic does. Would this make a difference....I dont know. But its something to think about when gauging how accurate a reading you are getting.

i can't comment on the accuracy of a different hose, but i can say it would be a good idea to get somethign different. I used fuel lines from a hobby shop for gas powered RC's. the hard hosing that obx sent you will split about once a week where it connects to the gauge. then you gotta cut the split part off and reinstall. i ended up running out of hose and had to buy the rubber hose from the hobby shop. I just overlapped the new hose over the obx hose and zip tied it tight. fixed the problem for me. its been about 4 months so far.

I wouldn't think you'll see any appreciable differences in readings using vacuum type, thick wall tubing.

If you really have an issue with it, just pick up a mechanical Gage, copper type, oil line. It will probably screw right onto your Gage, and attach it using a short rubber vacuum line to the vacuum source. That's what I did on my car since we can't have any plastic/rubber tubing running from the engine etc., to inside the drivers compartment.

The plastic tubing that comes with the gauges is not that great anyway. It crimps really easy and throws off the readings, the rubber hose will be good.

i have a 90 gsx and im wondering how do i get the tube from the T fitting under my hood into my car so that i can mount it on my gauge?

There should be a hole through the firewall on the drivers side, I think it comes out above the petals. I passed mine thru there and then up through the dash by the fuse box and it should come out right up to the bottom of the pillar. Hope that helps.

My car had a little hole where my amp wires run through and it looked like a stock hole but I could be wrong( the hole was to the left of the steering column boot). Or you can cut a X in the steering column boot.

just crawl under to the leg compartment on the driver side.Above and beyond the pedal,u can see a rubber thingy. take a pocketknife and make a slit.take a clothes hanger, bend it and poke throught it. go back to ## engine compartment,u will see the clothes hanger protruding. from there, work ## wire in.. ;)

since this is the first post i have started, ill introduce myself first. my name is ben, and i have a 91 tsi awd. i bought it from the original owner with right under 60k miles on it. good purchase. its my first turbo vehicle, so i'm learning
anyways, today i put in an autometer mechanical boost gauge and a greddy turbo timer. first time doing anything like like either of those. the good news is that both work. the bad news is that the boost gauge does not register vacuum. its supposed to. its got it on the gauge, but it wont go below zero. i put it in the line on the fpr that goes to the middle of the intake manifold. is this wrong? maybe the other one? maybe my gauge is bad? boost is being measured just fine. just the vacuum.
