Ok so this isn't really a specific question but since it's what I have I figured I'd ask.

Xtd stage 4 unsprung disk.

On a 1g tsi

Couple of things.
1. Im aware of breaking in a clutch in a stop and go traffic for roughly 300-500 miles.
2. Easy driving(baby the clutch)
3. The disk is what is being broken in.

With that said my questions are these(I have searched and didn't find this)

1. From my search-racing disk does not need to be broken in. Does the xtd 6 puck counts as a racing disk? (seems like it is/should)

2. Does break in period need to happen in a certain time frame? I mean does it need to be heat cycled(1-2 weeks of 300-500 city miles)
Or can it be all in one day? Maybe 300 or so miles of cruising the streets LOL

3. Since what is being broken in is the disk (which is cheap enough) about how much life does it tend to loose if improperly broken in? (ofcourse everyones driving is different I was just wondering if there's a ball park figure)

Any input welcome.

Ps: while I would like to break it in slow and steady I have a deadline to meet and I may not have enough time.(hint thinking of cruising 300 city miles in one day LOL)

By placing directly in the trash.

hey i have that clutch on my car, it holds 20-23 psi all day long so please stop the bashing just becouse you spend 400 to 600$ on a ACT dosent meen you can bash other products.

drive it around
dont lunch the first 500 miles then it will HOLD all the power you car has

Agreed.

They are a horrible eGay company with no morals and a crappy reputation.

Wrong there are numerous members on here who have had great luck with XTD. Hell, more have had issues with ACT now, LOTS more. ACT is a garbage company now, just like Optima batteries because they have no quality control.:nono:

Your logic is flawed.

The reason more people have issues with ACT is because they sell them in considerably higher volumes and people are asking far more than their design parameters allow.

ACT and Optima are both quality producing companies. When you produce shit in such large quantities, SHIT HAPPENS. XTD is a shit heap company that's known for spray painting OEM parts and slapping them in a box.

Such a great company.

Sure it does. How does you telling me your xtd clutch holds 23 psi all day reinforce anything about the quality. Hey guess what? The stock clutch does that too! I have used that clutch before. Thing sucked. Was not worth the 2 hours it took to put it in. Thing did not hold for crap after a few thousand. Wrecked my flywheel. Pad material fell apart. Springs raddled like crazy after the first launch. Was just all around junk. It will do ok if you want to replace your clutch and flywheel every 3000 miles. This was all about 4 years ago also. Maybe they have gotten better. Just my experience. Have been though a lot of clutches through the years.

You probably got one of those spray painted junk pressure plates.

Some 7MGTE guys caught them doing that to aftermarket OEM PP's that didn't even meet OEM specifications. Better still, this was XTD's '35%' more clamping force PP.

Right...

To answer the OP's question, you just drive the car normally. Avoid WOT, avoid high RPM shifting, avoid crappy downshifting, and full throttle starts. After a few hundred miles the clutch should be broken in.

im sorry to hear that, mine holds no problem, there are members here 500 plus hp that use the stage 4 and guess what it works for them :thumb:

i know stage 1 and 2 are not the best however stage 4 pressure plate and disk DO WORK

Lol yoi guys are idiots. I went 11.20@130 on one and have had 4 of em. The work great and take tons of abuse. Mine finally started to slip when I was making 600whp. I break mine in by going straight to the track and beating the shit out of em. You guys that have never ran one keep your bullshit comments to yourselvs.

XTD Clutch scam! - Page 17

just for some light reading....

Ive read so much about how poor this company is.... there are 20+ pages of "evidence" that this company spray paints old clutches and the management is just plain shady... What it comes down to is some people have good reviews of their product however some have awful.... I have no experience however so I will keep my comments to myself.... just providing you with information.

That's a thread I haven't seen in a LONG time.

Of course I'm not talking from personal experience; instead of buying a piece of shit I actually googled before I purchased.

I ran 25 psi on a 2.4l stroker with an fp green netting me 412awhp and 434awtq. 3.2 0-60 times and you could do hot launch after hot launch. Ive used 3 of these so far in different setups and transmissions all with perfect results. Dont spend the money on an ACT when these have been proven with little issues from members all over this site. ONLY get the stage 4 kit all the rest are garbage and are painted stock PP's. The stage 4 unsprung kit is the best thing up until a dual clutch kit.

And to break in the clutch drive it normal for 500 miles, no launches but dont be afraid to get on it somewhat. I wouldnt take it to 7000 rpms but maybe 5800 or so.

*Fixed that for you.*
4 of them? For the damn near $800 bucks you could of got a clutch made in the usa, by our supporting members and most likely still be using the first clutch.

And sometimes eBay turbos work for a while. Great, don't spend the money on an FP just log onto eGay!

ITS a diffrent part and a diffrent maker.

Yeah, I actually drive my car and race it a lot. I would be replacing any clutch a lot. I get about 10k mi out of them, they would go more but I replace them every spring when I have the trans out to get freshened.

I'm hearing all this shit talking from people who have not used this clutch first hand. The stage 4 is a great clutch and stomp the act 2600 I had prior. My friend has ran 12.5 multiple times. I just got done breaking mine in.

I will buy one of these again. For the price it's the best clutch out there. Y'all are just act nut swingers.

I just read the rest of the XTD sucks thread, and it appears XTD is purchasing competitors products online and filing fraudulent claims against the sellers in an effort to discredit them and their products.

What a great company.

Of course I've never tried one of their products. It looks like a turd, smells like a turd, is a turd.

Alot of people run big numbers on XTD. Had i known i would have bought a stage 4 instead of my comp stage 4. That said, the comp is a great clutch that is handling quite a bit of power right now with zero problems. And the TOB is good quality too. I would be careful with xtd TOB, have not heard enough to say whether theyre ok or not. Bashing shit cause its cheaper is stupid....expecially with people on the forums running them left and right.

It's got nothing to do with price. Did you read anything at all?

Their TOB's are shit too.

Lol blow me sebba who gives a #### what the company does. It's all hearsay anyway. I run the clutches, I make more power than you, I go faster than you. End of story.

I've had two issues with them, both times the clutches were wore out by that time anyway. 1. I had several cracks in the spring retainer. This was my first XTD, and I learned how to launch a high power AWD with that clutch. Second one was a solid hub, and the hub started loosening from the disc, after a season and a half, and a shit ton of launches and 8500rpm upshifts.

oh Yeah, I run there "garbage" tob's too!

I do run an ACT flywheel however.

Hearsay? Negative, that's word of mouth.

A companies integrity usually reflects the quality of products and service they provide. In this case, I'd say they do that perfectly. Shit products, shit service, shit company. XTSHIT.

Blow me.
