How can you tell if the turbo is a t28 not a t25?

I'm looking into buying this used t28 and i am curious as to how I can tell that it is actually a t28.

It is listed as being from a 90-96 300ZX. and only shows one picture, I can only see the blades on the turbine side, and i can see that it says garrett on the compressor housing.

"I was told that it has a .48 exhaust turbine and the compressor side is also .48.
There is Virtually no shaft play, I have had this turbo inspected by a couple of local "turbo Guys" and they say that this turbo DOES NOT NEED TO BE REBUILT. "

"This turbo has an internal wastegate. It has the flapper but needs the plunger and can."

what is the punger and can? where can i get one?

please help me out... i'm looking for an easy way to uprgrade my turbo without voiding the warrantee, and with this since its the same housing as a t25... i may be in luck.

Out of curiosity. What warrantee are you worried of voiding?

You can purchase extended warrenty's for $$$$...

some 99's might still have warrenty left on a low miled car... a 99 gsx i almost bought still had 30k miles and almost 2 years left on warrenty...

i have an extended warantee... its been very beneficial... however a pain in the ass because any mods i do can only be minor... and hard to find...

they let me do exhaust and stuff... but i also have a few other mods that they dont know about.

still... ive managed to run a 14.5 at norwalk on a nearly stock car so i'm happy, but if i could get a mitsu t28 i'd be really happy...

thanks alot i was unaware of this... i just dont understand why the fp big t28 is as much if not more than a b16g when it is either equal or less of a performer....

Hey i've got an extended warranty on my car as well, is it true that the DEALER HAS to install the mod's so the warranty is not voided.

Also like if you put a 16g in your car, does that void the ENTIRE warranty of the car or only the warranty on the turbo. . . Does anyone have any info that can tell me what would void the warranty. . .

It depends on the company you have an extended warranty with. Mine are complete assholes and will void windshield wiper repairs if your car is lowered, etc.

To the original question, the T25 used on 2nd gen DSMs is not a 100% garrett turbo. It has a mitsubishi exhaust housing, which is why it bolts to a mitsubishi manifold, something that a garrett T25, nissan T25, etc... will not do.
