Ya know, ebay is really starting to piss me off... it used to be a place to get some really good parts, but now its so littered with absolute junk, its hard to tell what you are really getting anymore....

For instance, I was peeking at possible just going with a T3/T4 and skip the 16g all together, and was looking on ebay for a deal. I came across a crap load of these listed and I KNOW they are junk, its just apparent by the price. What concerns me is that it actually calls itself a TO4E and has a serial number.... its obvisously a knock off and wouldnt even want to use it as a paper weight... So how are people getting away with this?? Wouldnt Turbonetics want to do something about it?

There is not one thing listed in that auction that is illegal.

To4e what does that hafto do with getting away with anything? It is a turbo, There are so many different variatons of turbo's and parts to do with them, You will never know by just looking at it.

As for a serial number, Who cares, They produce many turbo's so each one gets a serial number.

They did not use a name brand companies name so they are in no way doing anything illegal.

My buddy bought an $800 ''ebay junk'' turbo kit for his stock coupe, Went 13.4 @ 110mph in the 1/4, With nothing else but a free downloadable tuning system. Not bad for buying ebay junk, When it put him in the 12's mph range.

If you have not tried that turbo, Why post about it? That is like saying, MY DSM is junk, Because it broke. Does that mean EVERYONE elses dsm on this board is junk, Just because it was produced by the same people, And has the same looks? No, I do not think.

Hope you somewhat understand what I am trying to say. Everyone is so quick at talking bad about products they have never personally tried, And their excuse is "Well so and so had bad luck with it". That's like dating a girl and having a bad relationship, And then your buddy going out with her and having an excellent relationship. You just can't judge like that.

I hate to also say it, But some vendors are selling the same exact thing ebay is selling, But for over twice the price.

K, Thanks for listening.

Ok, then let me ask you this.... Would you install an $169 TO4E Turbo on your ride?

I think we know the answer.

I also see your point of view, But for the person that doesn't have a good job or alot of money, But still wants to upgrade in their budget range, I think they are selling like icecream in the summer.

Would I put that on my car, No. But, It's not because of the rumors I've heard! It's because I have the funds to buy a better setup, Although some don't, So they buy what they can afford.

I do not have a good job, so my funds are extremely limited. I would not buy this turbo strictly because of what other people have said. Sure it's been proven that many eBay turbos have been good pieces. However, it has also been proven that many are garbage. And because I'm taking a chance, it doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather take my small amount of funds, save up slowly and buy a turbo that I know is going to work.

If I get a good eBay turbo, I made a hell of a deal. But what if I get a junk one? Then I have to start from scratch with no money, when I could've just saved up for a good one. It's like gambling.

Then your a sheep. Stop jumping on the band wagon and being like well I heard..... WHo cares what everyone is saying. 90% of the people that talk have never owned one because they read what "everyone" says. Talk to the guy with it running 13.4 not the smuck who goes well I heard:rolleyes:

If you don't like it, don't buy it. What's the issue here? Just like anywhere else you have to be careful who you buy from. I would never have bought the ss autochrome fmic if not for the 50 page thread of everyone else who tried it out first and found it to be quality.

I like the pricing, I think that there should be a turbo on the market for each and every target market. That is marketing at its best, there is a turbo for someone who percieves value in buying a more expensive proven product, there is a market for someone who is looking for a inexpensive turbo and there is a market for those inbetween.

we can compare this to any market

ebay turbos= like a geo or kia, no way i would buy one but there is a market for them, for those people it is exactly what they are looking for. A not so well backed cheap investment that has a higher percieved risk of failure.

evo 3 gt (and the like)= kind of like hyundai, saturn, or something simliar. These cars were originally generally not well accepted. In this category you take what i consider a percieved moderate risk to get more for your money. I think they are a good value now given the price and the somewhat reputable name. Sometimes it just takes a while for the real truth to present itself.

Mhi evo 16g= more like a toyota or honda. Well established name known for quality, but you pay the price compared to its competitors for the percieved quality in the name brands reputation. These are generally looked at as low risk due to the reputation.

So there you have it, i think each of these cars have their place and each of those turbos have their place. I know where i belong on those three categories, but i dont pass judgement on those driving a geo, or running an ebay turbo, they are in their own place in the categories and i'm glad they were able to make the transaction where they felt that they should and for whatever reason they have done so.

Bottom line, if there wasnt a need being filled , there wouldn't be a market, and they wouldn't be there.
