What are my options on tuning my 98 GST ecu? Will DSMlink work. The guy at the dyno shop said my car is running "FAT"/Rich 9.1. He said to get some tuning software and logger in order for him to tune it. Need Help.

I'm a newbie but I may be able to offer some help. The DSMLink will not work with your car unless you have an EPROM ecu (found in the '95 turbo DSM's). To help with the rich issue, I would say get a datalogger and a wideband o2 sensor and either an Apex'i S-AFC II or Neo (given it has the updated program version) to tune your fuel system.

Evoscan, the 98 ecu can be reflashed if you do not have the cash to purchase dsmlink

this is your best bet, since you have a 98, you can use evoscan, the software is free (google search it) and all you have to do is purchase the cable, which I belive is 100 bucks same as most used safc2, evo scan can do much much more, very similar if not exact as dsmlink. trust me well well worth it. if evos that I know are making 380hp with it I think I'll give it a shot. do a title search on here for evoscan and you'll find alot more information.

There are two options available. One is a data logger and one is a ecu reflash cable. You would need a laptop computer. We currently use it for data logging however with the $140 cable you can just re flash your ecu to run however you would like. DSM-LINK is the best, but cost wise & due to the fact its hard to find a e-prom ecu we decided to go with evo scan. Our evo makes 405 hp and 440 tq with a evo scan tune.. perfect afr

well you have problems that need attended to.

Fix the problems and the rich would go away.... Boost leak.

+1

Its pretty normal for the afrs to dip into the 9s dsms run pretty rich from the factory. Do a BLT and fix the leaks you have.

Yeah, I concur.

Boost leak test - maybe to most cost-effective thing to do for leaning out in your situation :)

As I remember AFR map in the ecu is somewhere near 9.4:1 at the richest (at high load/rpm's)... so there could be tiny boost leak taking that precious air away.

so with that 140 cable i can tune my ecu using evoscan? does anyone have/know of any links on how to do a BLT. I thought i did that but i was told i just did a pressure test!

No Boost leak! Pressure holds 20psi? what else could make it rich. I removed the cat. converter since in Oklahoma doesn't have emission laws, would that make the o2 senor on the cat back read wrong? should i put it back on?

Jeeze... do a search please.

Boost Leak
Compression Test
Check your MDP sensor
MAF sensor
Fuel regulator, fuel pump, injectors
BUY a logger and atleast a SAFC

!!EXCUSE ME!! miss rEcipersGST out of Grove City, I thought this was a place to ask question and help others not be a smart @$$ little Bctih! :toobad:

And like i said "NO BOOST LEAK"! ^^^

You obviously still didn't use the new Search button they added in AGES ago. Follow the whole LIST of things I posted instead of throwing a BF :thumb:

I'm here trying to help, I'm currently going through the same problem, but now I'm replacing the t25 with a 14b. By the way, you might want to read the rules & polices.
