how can i tell if i have a 1.8 liter engin and what mods can i do to it

well i have had some people tell me that my engin is bigger than a 1.8 liter and could a 1.8 liter do 140 stock thats what i dont know and i thought about putting cams in it what kind can i put in there this is basically my project car and whatever engin i have in it it runs very good escpically going 140 thats what i toped it out at.

so if any body could help me that would be nice

Now's where even I tell you to search around. There are several things you can do to it, including turboing it. But most recommend just keeping it as a daily driver while saving up for a 4g63 based car.

It wont do 140 unless you do a good bit of work. My 2.0 only did 135 and it took awhile. Who cares about top speed anyway? If you want top speed get bigger tires. Do the basic mods, intake, exhaust. There isnt much out there for a 1.8

because i have had some people tell me the only thing i can do is get a chip for it and i know i can get alot more parts than the chip im getting a cam for it and a header then a turbo later but i toke it down the track at peidmont which is a 1/8 and im doing 11s in it and keeping up with lt1 camaros and i didnt think the base model would be capable of doing that

So what engine do you have? 2.0? If you have the 4g63(2.0) then you can do alot of mods and it is easier to find the parts.

1. Have you ever gone 140mph?
2. Would you really want to go 140 MPH in a stock 17-year-old car?
3. Where exactly do you plan on going this fast, and why?

No offense intended, but if you can't identify the motor you have, you have no business (and no hope) of successfully and safely hitting 140 mph in that car....although at 140 mph, safety is relative, even for professional drivers in a '92 DSM

yeah i have the 4g37 motor and i have 2 freinds that i raced one in a mustang gt 5.0 and a LT1 camaro that they will tell u i can do every bit of 140 and they dont know how and on the highway

Just stop. People die all the time doing under the speed limit. What do you think happens to you at twice that? It is not safe, or legal, to drive 140mph on a public street or highway. Period. We don't want to hear about you doing it. And we certainly won't help you do it any faster.
