The throttle response will change, but as for gaining actual horsepower, the gains will be negligible. The weight reduction is always beneficial, but you'll lose more by dropping your spare tire, jack, etc...

Now, personally, I've never understood why folks wanted to lose creature comforts for only marginal power increases on a DD. But to each their own.
