horrible vibration underneath!!

So I've searched and searched with no luck, most are just wheel related or differential related (vibration comong from the back) BUT mine is right underneath the center console, it literly shakes the whole centerconsole BAD! It only does it when I'm in 2nd gear like around 20-25 mph and it doesn't stop shaking until I come to a complete stop, even with the clutch pressed and I'm just rolling, still shakes like crazy, like I just droped the axle or somethin. At first I thought that I had broken a u joint but I stoped and checked but luckly the shaft is still on the car. I replaced both front cv axles they're about 4 months old.

Oh and I don't launch my car or anything like that because first of all I don't have the money to replace a broken part by trating my car like crap . All this happens on normal driving.

have you gotten under the car and looked at the drive shaft carrier bearings... it sounds to me like that could be your problem since the driveshaft is bolted to the underside of the car

No I haven't, ima check that and the u-joinst. Pretty much if the axle has any play is u joints right?

what black GST os saying is check the drive shaft carrier bearings, they bolt under the console, and the rubber isolator bushings are bad, they support the bearing in the bracket

if the driveshaft carriers are ok, you're looking at a unbalanced driveshaft. which will cause excessive vibration right under the console.

Ok, but wouldn't a unbalanced driveshaft vibrate at ALL times tho? Because if I take off slow all the way to 3rd gear and up to normal speed it doesn't do it. Only if I take off with a lil bit of boost and into 2nd then it does it.

yes and no sometimes an unbalnced wheel or drive shaft may only show at certain speeds but

do you have stock motor mounts? it could be a combo of bad mounts and bad carrier bearings and when you take off hard its causing the drive shaft to be at an odd angle and since the carriers are bad they arent holding it firm in place

I'm having the same issue with my carrier bearings. I need to change them it vibrates shaking my center console. It's going to vary at when it vibrates. If you go under the car and can push up on the rear drive shaft and it moves excessively it's worn and change it. Kind of a pain tho it involves removing the whole drive shaft and a table vise that's why I haven't changed mine yet. Brand new they are about $90 I believe

Yup yup, I called the dealer and they quoted me 600.19 for all. Carrier bearings and u joints. I figured I can switch the u joints as well since I'm down there. But 600 is a lil too much for my budget so I'm just gona tipe in the part number that MIHI gave me on ebay and see if I can get them cheaper.

No way! You called SATAN? sheesh, it's just two bearings. Shop around and do the wrenching yourself. Save a lot of money. That's including buying a table vise.

A tip! If you want u joints, buy 3 of the driveshaft yoke repair kits. $105 for all u joints and also a new yoke! JB weld the hole on the back of the yoke as well and never worry about the transfer case oil fling!

Oh and drop the driveshaft, flip carrier bearings over, and pump them full of silicone. I was hesitant too... but I have almost no wheel hop and no driveshaft thump anymore!

That's the fix I heard of before. I need to do this. cheap easy and you say that it works? Just regular black silicone and pump it full that will be evenly coated? How long to let it dry?

You can replace both carrier bearings yourself, repack the lobro-joint and replace all three u-joints for less than $200 bucks. I did it on a saturday. I would NOT recommend doing the driveshaft "thump fix", as it will cure the thump, but will most likely introduce some constant vibration.

Window Weld and silicone have their uses, but carrier bearings aren't one of them.

FYI, this was from experience. The resulting vibration I found ended up ruining the seal at the rear-end input shaft and cause a diff-fluid leak.
