Honk! What? Honk! What? I can't hear you, that must be a DSM horn [Merged 1-8]

I swear I'm such an ASS sometimes.
Ok, I go to check the horn relay and something tells me to just look at the fuse again and guess what (if your not an ASS like me you know the answer, I know i'm a newbie but i swear that was the first thing i checked)yes the fuse was blown, grabbed a new fuse and hit the horn switch and the horn sounded, hit the switch again and nothing. Now when I hit the switch I hear a clicking noise coming from the area of the horn relay in the fuse box. I switched the relay with another from the fuse box and i got the same clicking noise. Checked the fuse again just to make sure it didn't blow again because that would mean there is a problen with that fuse terminal right?
Tell me what you guys think a this point? I think because the horn sounded this last time when i changed that fuse and the clicking noise from the relay I believe the FUSE, relay, switchs and wireing are good would you agree or disagree? I did a real junky test to test the horn I don't want to explain how i did because i could have electrocuted myself and i don't want to pass on my hairbrain ideas but the horn did sound. sorry this post is so long . Last thing before i go buy a new horn, the ground for the horn anyone know how to check this.

Thanks

It really sounds like you have a wire that is shorting out. Check all the wiring and make sure none are frayed or have the insulation stripped back.

Sounds to me like your horn is going. You can measure the voltage on it's unplugged connector to make sure it's there (or just plug a 12V light bulb into it's socket - have to hold wires from bulb into it). The ground is the black wire. You should have continuity (0 ohms) on it to ground. Wiggle the wires a little when checking to see if the connection is good.

your horn is broken,if it keeps blowing the fuse LOL

why dont you just swap your alarm horn with the front one, put in a new fuse and see if the problem persists.

if its ok, just get any old horn off ebay or in a parts store . or go to the junk yard and snag one off a hyundai (or a car with simular connectors..like a mitsubishi :)

Hi Guys,
The horn was bad. Picked up a horn at Harbor Freight Tool, that looked just like the stock one, just had to splice in a couple of female connector.

Thanks to all for your help

Does anybody know where the horn is on a 95 talon i changed the fuse and it still dosent work so im guessing its the horn itself but i cant find it for the life of me

Right under the front fender wheel well. (there should be one on each side I think).

You'd have to remove the plastic covers to see it. But its close to the front bumper in the wheel well under the fuse box. And it should be in the same location on the other side.

There is only one horn on our cars. Driver side under the headlight behind the bumper. Reach in your air damn are feel upwards. Only one horn. The passenger side has the emissions equipment.

I was wondering what i should do about my horn it works but its very quiet. I am thinking that is pluged up or something. I know subies use those red horns i foget the name but i was thinking about using them. I wamt something kinda loud so people will hear me. I dont want it loud to be a dick but i live in the pocons and people here are really horrible drivers, I just want to be noticed LOL..

fog horn LOL, i think is illegal. But like i said it works, its just very faint. I would think if it was the fuse it wouldn't go off at all/?

i would check all the connections to make sure they arent rusted or corroded and causing a bad connection

check your ground with a test light or volt meter and of course power and if both check out your horn is crap

Mine did that but the ground ended up being damaged. We had a crx with a semi truck air horn ran with a 5gal. air tank that everyone was daring me to put into my 1g for a quick fix.

Has anyone tried adjusting the horn? Most horns are adjustable. If not I am gonna look and see if ours is and let everyone know how. It is just a bolt or screw normally.

If you really want some horn power, go to hornblasters.com
I got the conductor's special for my 92 Tsi and later got my girlfriend the same thing for her 98 GSX 6-bolt just with a smaller tank/compressor combo. Only problem is now her's is louder than mine because of the junk fittings I had to install mine with. I have since sold the car and kept the horns, I am thinking of throwing them on my 4g63 Elantra to scare people even more.

92 Tsi: This was my first install and I just wanted to get them in so I didn't plan anything.

98 GSX 6 bolt: This one I planned for a while, spent a whole day welding the bracket and getting them to fit just right.
