So, I bought my car three years ago and somebody had removed the timing belt cover. I thought, "Who cares? Besides it's kinda cool watching the gears..." on a scale from 1-10, how stupid was this choice? There is a locally corrupt shop here in Utah called *redacted*. After they completed an AEM EMS install I took the car out and to make a long story short, about 500 miles later my valves are bent. They tell me that a rock got stuck in the timing belt... are there any opinions on that? LOL, they even showed me "THE ROCK." I'm sure it's possible, but is it likely? Currently I go to a newer and different shop that has a few of the mechanics that left Phantom. They installed an AEM Fuel Regulator and now my cover won't fit. Should I be scared?

And you know who to blame when it blows up. OMG :p

Goodguy162000 - I would say it is important to have a cover on the timing belt on a daily driver. You definatily want to keep foreign material out of there. Id say, if they showed you the 'rock', then that is possibly what did it. Also, I have the same AEM AFPR on my car and I still have the t-belt cover installed, so it is possible. I would figure out a way to get the cover back on if I were you.
