Ok got the head back on but I'm having a bi*** of a time get the timing belt on. I took it off by taking a cam off and slipping it off that time. My luck I couldn't get it back on that way and I dont want to strech the belt. I've done a search and I have the book and have looked at the vfaq and nothings really helps. Kinda tired so things are really sinking in. So whats the easiest way of getting this back on. Also if I have to remove the main drive pully do I have to take the 12mm bolts off because the damn big bolt in the middle has this washer thats keeping me from fiting a socket over it. Can I just take a airrachet to the big bolt and take that off? Any help would be great. Thanks

Once you use the All thread tool to detension the Auto-Tensioner & have the Grenade pin in the Auto-Tensioner all you do is loosen the Tension Pulley (the Pulley with the eccentric Center) & the belt flies on -- If you were too tired to pick that up from the Manual & VFAQ you are TOO DAMN TIRED - Go to bed & get this done tomorrow - DON'T SCREW UP NOW!!

Also if I have to remove the main drive pully do I have to take the 12mm bolts off because the damn big bolt in the middle has this washer thats keeping me from fiting a socket over it. Can I just take a airrachet to the big bolt and take that off?

You don't have to pull it & even if you did what if the Air Ratchet spun the Crankshaft with no Timing Belt attached? THINK! You would EAT VALVES!!!!! Get a grip - Get some rest - And get with us tomorrow...

Release the tension from the auto tensioner via tensioner tool. If you slipped it off ONE cam, you are going to have to remove the lower cover and realign everything.
where do you put the tensioner tool in? I can't find it anywhere. Also I know not to let it spin, not that tired but how am I going to realign the crank now w/ that pully on. Can I do it or am I going to have to take it off.

man you got me all confused i did my timeing belt whole job in like 1 hr if that you just need to start over . do it right youll save your self some time.

It comes in from the rear - over the AC Compressor there's a rubber stopper in a hole in the Aluminum Shield (remove the little rubber stopperin the hole in the shield) then it THREADS into the Motor Mount Casting - LOOK!

FACT IS IF YOU COULDN"T FIND IT THEN STOP - YOU INSTEAD OBVIOUSLY JUST BLEW OFF THE VFAQ & THE MANUAL & PROCEEDED TO INSTALL IT YOUR WAY!! - YOU CAN'T DO THAT!! THAT'S WHY THEY CALL IT A MANUAL!!

Also I know not to let it spin, not that tired but how am I going to realign the crank now w/ that pully on. Can I do it or am I going to have to take it off

What Pulley - The damn Cam Pulley? Leave the sumbitch alone! Make sure all 4 pistons are about dead even with each other (half way thru stroke) before turning Cams to proper marks - THEN set the Crank Timing mark.

Your other post says you turned the Crank you don't know how many times & never saw TDC - WTF do you mean? Did you have the cams in the Head when you did this? If so I don't see how you didn't bend a buncha valves.

Tensioner tool for the pulley goes in the holes on the pulley. The tool to compress the hydraulic auto tensioner goes in at an angle from the intake cam side there is a hole there. OR you could just unbolt the auto tensioner, recompress it (VERY SLOOOOWWLLYYY) in a vice, slip the grenade pin or a small allen wrench in it, then bolt it back up.

Realign the crank by the timing marks, it's all in the VFAQ. You sure you don't need to sleep?

There is a little rubber plug on the right hand side of the timing stuff. Pull it out, and stick the tensioner in there. You will be threading it in a LONG time before you feel any tension.

I mean I tured the crank I don't know how many time but more than ten and everything didn't line up. And don't WTF on me cause I know theres at least one other person that had this happen. And trust me I'm doing everything by hand so I would know if I was bending valves. The pully I was talking about was the crank pully and everyone says don't remove it so I won't. I just need to remove the timing cover to see the marks I'm guessing now. Reason why I'm asking all these questions is not because I'm dumb but because I want to get everything straight so I do mess something up. To me the faq just didn't explain it right for me to fully understand. I'm learning now though.

Well I just figured out you still had the Timing Cover still on - I guess this means you took the Head off & put the Head back on without ever taking the Timing Cover off - right? No wonder you can't get the Timing Belt back on - what do you think you are working on - a freaking lawnmower?

& YES you have to pull the Harmonic Balancer to get the Timing Cover off - & don't spin the Crank when you do or you could bend valves.

& I thought you said you read the VFAQ - WTF?
