Hi guys!!
I just found an awesome deal on a HX40 6 blades but the ad says the wheel is 58.5mm in diameter and i thought all HX40 6 blades where 60mm.Can anyone share some info on this because i might ditch my Hx35 for the HX40

no 6 blades are 58 and 7 are 56 and 60 for 8
SO wrong.

HX40 compressors can be (inducer/exducer):

6-blade : 56mm/86mm or 60mm/86mm

7-blade : 60mm/86mm

8-blade : 58mm/83mm or 60mm/83mm

There are no other known HX40 compressor specs than those listed above.

Nice info Justin,What do you think about upgrading my current HX35 7 Blades for the HX40 6 Blades?

Is an Holset HX40 #4041276

Justin, how about turbine wheels for the HX40? I know the "pro" or "super" 40's use different turbine wheels then the "standard" HX40's. Got any measurements for the the turbine wheels?

There really should be a thread for Holset info only on here:hmm:
LULZ..... :D

Every HX40 has the same 76mm/64mm turbine spec, hence there being just one turbine housing choice. If there were more that one spec of turbine available then there would be a need for a second turbine housing to fit said turbine wheel.

Justin,
I have an hx40 that came of a 8.3L cummins (tractor) from 2007. Specs are 7 blade (57mm inducer). I have also read on some desiel forums about this turbo, although it's apparently more rare.

Are you sure about that? Keep in mind it's quite difficult to measure the existing radius of a 7-blade wheel due to the odd number of blades....you can't go straight across. You're better to go from the centerline of the turbine shaft hole in the compressor wheel to the tip of one of the blades, then multiply that by 2.

What the hell, Gene? (post times ROFL)

I will grab some pics with the caliper tonight. I measured it some time ago, so I can't recall how I measured, but I think I remember the compressor cover inlet being less than 60mm.

Whats the most accurate way to measure the 7 blade?

Measure off of three blades, and do some trigonometry. Waaaay more accurate than "eyeballing" the centerline. (insert boosted98gsx comment) I'm an engineer, I know these things.

I maybe wrong, but I keep seeing and hearing of a 67mm exducer HX40 wheel. It maybe an aftermarket upgrade tho. I know they are used in the diesel world.
