Hey guys, I was wondering how the hks head gaskets are??? I have a stock bottem end 6bolt nd i wanted to raise the compression to ether 8.3.1 or 8.6.1. I have arp head studs to support the head down.I just wanna know if that would be a good choose for a easy quick build that would be relable ??? opinions please

fp exhust mani, scm6176 dual bb, fp2 cams, springs retainers, apexi safc, gm maf wit translator, chipped computer not sure ### it is it has 2 step came wit the car, thats all i can think of as of now

They work fine AS LONG AS you correctly prep your head and block. They will bump your compression a tiny bit. Personally I would go with the OEM mitsu MLS and arp's. My current set up. Its a time honored set up that can take a licking and keep on ticking. Surface prep is 90% of the battle.

what is the CC of your head? before and after milling?

how much more compression are you wanting? and why?
has your head been milled before?
What is the thickness of your head? Measured from the valve cover rail to the HG surface?

This head was never milled down I a stock head wit spring retainers nd a cam. So u guys say go wit a mitsu head gasket nd get the head milled down to raise compression from 7.8.1 to watever I decide to goo??? Nd the reason I wanna bump up compression is that I don't feel that the setup will be making enough power like I want it to . Nd btw I'm looking for 450 wheel on pump gas

well also with milling the head, you change the cam to cramk timing, if you want more compression, get a set of flat top pistons, that wuill bump you up a bit, and not cause cam issues.

if you want to go from 7.8 to say 8.5 compression, you will have to mill a fair amount off the head, appox .030 would ne my best guess

I am working on a mill formula now so it will be known how much to mill to close up the cumbustion chamber 1 cc

Milling the head isn't going to raise compression much. Furthermore, with the aftermarket cams you are going to need for that goal the valves will hit the pistons if you mill to much off of the head. For 450 awhp, aftermarket pistons and rods would be a very good idea. 450 hp is a pretty high goal for a 2 liter on pumpgas, and will require a ton of mods to get there SAFELY. Have you ever modded a turbo car before? If not i suggest starting with a 300 hp goal and building/learning from there.

I wouldnt say it takes a ton of mods. Dont give him the wrong idea 450 wheel hp on a 4g63 is not asking too much. Yes you will have to do some work to get there. You can spend as little as 500 bucks on out "stage 1" 300 hp setup and drive it for 100k its been done over and over and over time and time again. 450 on pump is a pretty basic deal as long as you know what your doing and are willing to do the work. I have seen 450 hp for a few thousand miles on a bone stock six bolt with minor bolt ons and a fair bit of tuning, oh and a crap load of water alky injection :D. To make it bullet proof you will DEF need to rebuild your engine if you want it to last. Your stock tranny wont take that kind of beating trust me I am in that boat right now. The 4g63 can make a TON of power for a reasonable cost and with a little elbow grease and know how you can make it last a long long time. Spend the money one time build it right and you will be very happy with what you get out of it. I have about 6 grand tied up in my current car and I am @ 447 whp on pump 93 with almost no knock or probs but I bought top of the line EVERYTHING. I have personally taken part in junk yard dog builds for less than two grand to get the same numbers. How long do you want it to last is the question you really need to ask yourself my friend.

the opinions are great i appreate it. i have serveal blocks nd one has a wiesco?eagle setup. i just wanted to put a lil project together for the summer to have alil fun nd especially for august 14 at englishtown, but of course I agree 110% wit built bottem end.
And by the way i have a a dogbox racing stage 2 in the car. :thumb:

dogbox tranny =:hellyeah: butter baby. build that thing up man you will have a great time and prob learn something along the way. Dont be afraid to ask for help on one knows it all my friend and if you think you do its time to take a leap from an airplane without a chute ROFL. well no if you knew everything you would know how to land on your feet at terminal velosity and walk away LOL good luck with your project man. have fun with it after all thats the name of this whole game :thumb:
