i was thinking to buy some cams and hks would be a good start.
will a get a flat power band or even a rising band from 5000rpm to 10,000rpm witch will be redline. and can you tel me how cams work too, how they make more power vs stock cams and why some cams have low range, mid range, and high range power. thank you

I would suggest BC280s or something similar (after reading over your mods list). HKS's are way overpriced. Go with a vendor that supports our market (FP for example...I"m going BC280s as I've felt their increases in my friends car.)

The camshaft is what opens and closes the valve. The power range you are referring to is how much, how quickly, and for how long the valve is actually open. A more agressive cam modifies those parameters to accomodate for greater airflow.

Where do you begin?!! Well, lets start with why you want cams. More horsepower. What is more horsepower? More air flow. What does air have to do with horsepower? Remember this approximation:

1 lb/min = 10.5 Hp

A 400 crank horsepower engine is flowing around 38 pounds of air per minute.

What does this have to do with cams? What is a cam? The 4G63 has two cams, an intake cam and an exhaust cam. The camshafts are straight steel shafts with eccentric lobes. They are connected to the crankshaft with a toothed timing belt and rotating at one-half crank speed. Lifters (or cam followers) translate the rotary motion of the cams into an up-and-down motion that opens and closes the intake and exhaust valves. This entire assembly must function with high precision and high reliability.

The camshaft controls the valve opening and closing points by the shape and rotational location of the lobes. The intake cam controls the intake valves. The exhaust cam controls the exhaust valves. Stock cams and most aftermarket cams are ground to a precision well within one crankshaft degree, ensuring that the valves actuate exactly when intended. Valves open and close letting air and gas into the engine (intake valves) and exhaust gassed out (exhaust valves).

Cam Basics

Anything is possible w/ adjustable cam gears. . . To a point. 272s are good for the "top end" of most us running significantly modified engine bays. Adjusting the cam timing of any cam choice for higher end power may be all that's needed to give you what you may want later on in the mod process.

The converse of that applies as well. Cam timing can give you good down low on "high rpm" cams. If you do your research, controling cam timing can give you a one-time purchase instead of "re-upgrading" your upgraded cams.

my car is apart and i have mose of my parts and ill have just waiting for some parts and have to pay for some its in the makeing, i just wanta make sure my car will work the way i want it too
