alright i searched and got lost in the depths of the forum. but i got the HKS BOV on my 98 gst, and its throwing a check engine light. what do i do to fix it?

*puts on flame suit* i searched with no resolve but im new here so hey i tried

is it running funny? stuttering/stumbling, jumpy idle ???

borrow a logger to scan the code, or just take it down an autozone and pull the code there.

it was code like 302 or something like that i cant remember off the top of my head, ill have to check again

do you mean 0302? i believe that your second cylinder is mis-firing. I had the code 0303 before and it was that my 3rd cylinder was mis-firing so i would imagine that your 2nd is. happy hunting :dsm:

dude it is recirculating, i dont vent to the atmosphere :p

I hate to be Captain Obvious here, but seriously, go get the code pulled.

None of us are going to be able to tell you what it is if you don't even have a clue where to begin.

ok the code was P1105 Fuel Air Metering

my only assumption is that its because im running 15 psi instead of 13 with my mods, if i turn it back down will it go off? or do i just need a bigger maf or a tune? i think i should just get my ecu flashed and fixed up at a speed shop if im wrong please reply LOL

edit: i also bet im going to be running hella lean too, is that also possible

no not unplugged but i will play with it now that you mention it. im new to modding so i guess this is how i learn :notgood:

do i just need a tune, or do i need a new maf?

cause if grabbing a larger flowing maf will fix it i can do that, but i need to spend my money getting this car back to par cosmetically instead of spending money on more performance mods and tuning

No, you have something wrong, fix it. Have somebody with dsm experience look it over. Try your local dsm forum for some real (in person) help.

i bought the car from a guy who said "when i swapped bov's the cel came on, its cause the hks bov holds more boost than the stock bov, if u put it back on then the cel will go off, just have someone with a code reader delete the code"

well the air flow hasnt been messed with at all other than the bov, and fuel hasnt been messed with at all, except that i ran a tank of 87 octane without thinking when i bought the car. but anyways someone help me :(

Also pull the air filter off and see if the previous owner removed the honeycombs from the mas, more importantly make sure the middle one is still there.

Yes, and as somone asked above, is the car running right?

well, first off...after reading your cars profile, I think you've had alittle more air restrictions removed then just a BOV. Are you running a cat? I also see you have a MBC installed...what is it set at? And how did you set it? How is your car running now? you also have a 190 lph fuel pump installed, what do you mean fuel hasn't been messed with? :sneaky: Boost leak is a high possibility if you ask me now...

LOL sorry, i bought the car with these mods a couple days ago, the car runs fine, nothing messes up at all just that check engine light, the idle is fine and everything. The guy had it running 16 psi and since then i put it on 13psi.

im running a hi-flow cat, ill check the boost leak problem and the mas

how do i test for boost leak and correct it if there is a leak? im searching but not finding it. im taking my car to a local tuner maybe he can check it then

if you think its the HKS causing this then just put your stock valve back on and see if it fixes it. that's one way to narrow it down, although i cant understand how a BOV will give you a check engine light unless its vented?
