I have a set of what is alleged to be HKS 272s...... Has anybody ever seen this?? With the crude measuring tools I have, the B02 matchs the HKS 272 ex cam I have ( PN M006) I dont have a M005 to check the B01 against. I searched these odd numbers every way I could think of and came up with nothing.......

IN# B01 A06

Ex# B02 706

Im not sure if they started off with these numbers them switched to the numbers Im familiar with???

I could see the 264s being A01&A02

272s B01&B02

280s C01 C02

But this is just my best guess. heres some pics......I need to send the intake cam to delta, it was stored wrong and some bonehead went at it by hand probably to clean it up to sell.

Whats the deal with these odd part numbers??

Can't speak for 272's but I had HKS 264/264 setup and the cams where cast with HKS on the blanks like yours but where stamped EX 9.8 264 on the flats of the exhaust cams and stamped IN 10.3 264 on the flats on the intake cam.

Ok- this must have been some of the later cams they produced maybe??? Sounds like an improved ID system.

Maybe this was ID revision #3??

I need someone who was doing this stuff back in like 95 to see this and weigh in I think, at least if my theory is correct. Ive tried looking for an HKS tech support # and couldnt find anything. I can send these back for a refund but I have to hurry up. I may send them back just based on their condition really. ex. is ok but the in. is beat which of coarse is the one Im needing. That 2nd lobe in from the cam gear is a mess, plus there is pitting and rust everywhere.

I should have just sent an OE cam to Delta.

Heres a look at the full number including what I assumed was a production date/location code......maybe Im wrong about that so here it is:

I would ask for a refund I simply don't see those as being hks cams, research all you want those aren't labeled as advertised.

Yeah.....at this point, it looks like that is where this thing is headed. Was really hoping somebody could tell me something about them.....anything......even if it's wrong. Haha

I'm going to see someone who's been doing this for along time later today......hopefully they might remember this from way back. It's either they are from early production back in the 90s, or I got hosed.

These ones have the HKS casting your referring to just like the known genuine HKS cams that I have NIB. Have a look at the 1st pic in the thread.

I really dont doubt that they are legit......I just cant figure out the story on the #s.

I compared my known legit HKS cams to these questionable ones meticulously...more than one time.......and they passed in every area.

Do a search I have a very old thread on this and what those codes mean. Those are legit HKS cams by the way.

Do a search you say? Thanks for the tip hot rod!

I viewed that thread and found nothing that was helpful for this particular situation.

Thanks though
