Installed HKS 272's cams...

You could tune with an SAFC or similar. Other than that, you can use adjustable cam gears to dial in the cams, but with the HKS camshafts you don't need to do this.

I was using Delta 272's (HKS copies) and they were awesome...only thing was, when coming to a stop, the car always stalled out on me.

thats kinda why i was posting here. sometimes my idle likes to hop around from a little under 1k rpm up to 1250 rpm idle. is this normal without some kind of tune?

WTFBecause the harder part is not getting it tune, is installing the cams buddy..

1) Don't buddy me.
2) Cams are pretty simple and straightforward to install
3) By installing cams on a stock setup, you loose ALL the performance of it. A T25 on a SMIC hits early whereas the cams are meant to open up power further into the RPM band. It's counter productive.

What's the OP setup because from what I can tell that's just going to to hurt his car's performance if he still is running the stock turbo or have anything to tune with.

From what I can tell, it's just the basics without even an exhaust. I mean if you are inside the head swapping out other things like stem seals or springs/retainers then go for it. I am all for future proofing. But if you are so far away from even needing cams and you do it, you're working against yourself for power.

I'm pretty sure that guy was joking:tease:

1) Dint intend to offend you:heystupid:, i mean i dont even know you :thumb:
2) Since is 272 valve springs should be upgraded too:argue:
3) Im i this one with you:mrt: dint know he still was on the stock T&SM, seriously sounds like an early upgradeOMG.

Why would one buy cams BEFORE something to tune with? Hell, I STILL have not bought cams.

+1 on that.

In my opinion, if you are planning on modding your car the first mod should be something to tune with.
Especially if you are upgrading turbos or even upping boost. Not only will it keep your car safe, it will also increase performance.

I agree, you can throw stuff on your car, but something to tune with would be nice, this is just my opionon. I learned to start with the basics, logger, and my wideband.

.

Do you have any before/after dyno results on this one, just curious? I agree he probably doesn't need cams at this stage, but as for it being counter productive, that is just your opinion. He could have a garage full of parts waiting to go on the car and threw the cams in while doing a timing belt...
