Cool I got a fatty internal gate so I boost all the time in the city. :D

Later,

Well I turned up the boost and it was awesome. EGT's were fine. O2's lowered some timing came back and car pulled even harder.

Now run some race gas, and crank it to 23..... (or even your current settings on pump) and go to the track... let's see how fast that mutt is

I will as soon as my new manifold comes in and I spooling at 3700rpms instead of 4500rpms.

Later,

I'm confused.. I hear that having you car run at 18 degree timing is how you get the most power out of your car.. If so then why are you guys talking about high timing? I have a s-afc and poket logger.. Please help me.

All cars are different. Some cars like 20 degrees some like 18. it's all about the balance bettween Boost,Fuel, and Timing.

Personally, I get more power out of 18 degrees of timing advance over any other #......

So my reccomendation based off that, is to stay at or as close to 18 degrees of advance at all times.

Just dropped in the cams.

i had to break down and get the hk$ 264/272 cams also. extrememotorsports had them in stock, and they only wanted $10 more per cam than mail order. since i was up there, i figured i should just get them since they are hard to get sometimes. if anyone needs hk$ cams extremotorsports has a ton of them in stock. mutted... i mean agped;) how much did you pay to have the cams installed, rob quoted me like 440?

running in fear of the air impact wrench;)

long as John got the PB Blaster I reccomended, he will have no broken bolts.

If they do break, it's the mutt's fault. :D

when i installd my mutt, i just soaked the studs with WD40 and they came right out.

The thing is, WD40 is not a rust penetrant.

I got PB Blaster on accident at pep boys a long time ago while working on a car.

I'll be damned if I've ever found a better product in my life. I've pulled exhaust manifolds off 1gs that had more rust then manifold.... and the bolts came right off without a single studd snapping.

I have also discoverd that while working on 2gs, the the more you swear, the more the car cooperates.

I works for 1Gs too. I have also found that pounding the crap out of the car with a hammer works good also.

For some reason or another, I just remembered when my friend lit his Integra Type R on fire.

He was taking off his "b pipe" (whatever the hell that is)... the bolts were stuck so he hosed them down with WD-40.

2 hours later (still stuck on the car) he decides to heat the bolts up with a torch. I kept thinking to myself "he's not that stupid... he'll remember the oil on the pipe".... even as he went under the car I figured he'd remember, heard the torch ignight and I think "#@%#@%#@%#@%.... he'll see the oil when he looks at the pipe, he must not of looked at it close yet".

Next thing I hear "get the fire extingusiher!!!!!!" Dumbass lit his exhaust pipe on fire. Luckilly there was no damage to the car, but the damage to his ego is not repairable.

(for the record, I had the fire extinguisher handy, soon as I saw that dumbass with a "fire yeilding device" I figured I'd need it)

that stuff is amazing. i sprayed it on my fuel fitting and let is soak for about 10 minutes, and the fitting cam right off with very little effort. nothing stripped, it just came free very clean. PB Blaster is amazingOMG

I bought the PB for this very project. It didn't work for me. Not knocking it--I still use it for other stuff. But, I knew that fuel fitting was going to be tough and I was waiting to finish some suspension stuff before the FP. I sprayed it every day for probably 2-weeks. No avail! I had to pull out my metric vise grips and show that thing who was boss.

I'll try it on my exhaust manifold when its time to put my 2G on.

I just had a quick question.. I bought the HKS 264/272 cams but what kinda tap is involved to make it fit a 97 Eclipse for the cam angle sensor? Do I just need to drill a hole for it or what?

there was a thread somewhere in here explaing too much timing advance would increase boost lag. You want to lower ignition timing to delay exhaust stroke for quicker spool. Wish I could remember more to explain in detail. Good luck.

I reduce timing at my launch rpm to raise boost. Since I dont really see 5500 again while racing, its not an issue. I keep timing high for the rest of the run. I like it to be around 21-23, and is where I get my best results. Common belief is that running with low timing means you are also more likely to burn an exhaust valve if you screw up, though I havent verified this with firsthand experience yet. ;)
