hissing near intake and exhaust leak on manifold

ok i just had a problem with my intake valves ticking and i sorta solved that i got them to quiet down by changing the oil an other fluids, but now i can hear this hissing noise like air going through one of the gaskets or passed one of the injectors, near the intake manifold, could this and the exhaust gasket leaking cause my car to run lean, and make the valves tick like it is, i can smell the exhaust an it smells like its lean idont know how to explain how it smells though. the ticking started the other nite when i was on the freeway i dont know nething of how it was caused and i was wondering if neone had an idea wut the hissing could be and if the stuff listed above would make my car run the way it is thanks..

The valves ticking or the lifters? The only time I've ever heard valves tick is when they were hitting the pistons. Haha. Do you have a logger that you can see if your car is throwing any codes. My mother's car just had a problem of throwing "lean" codes throughout the car and it ended up being a bad intake manifold gasket. You may want to get that fixed, otherwise your going to burn an exhaust valve and have to replace the head/valves from running too lean.

no i dont have a logger or nething, and i think its prolly the lifters, i havent driven the car simce friday when this started, its idled after werkin on it an gone around the block thats it, but i just drove it an i realized, that after high rpms the car bogs down below 500 and then feels like its gunna die an goes back to 900 steady does this help?
