Higher boost in higher gears?

I installed a MBC today, but for some reason in first gear my car runs at a steady 12 psi, but in 2nd and 3rd and so on it runs at a steady 16 psi. Is this normal? If not, Why would this be happening? Thanks for any info.

Yes its normal to see less boost in first compared to the other gears as boost is load related.

Do not try boosting in first.
"Boost" is simply a reading of how much more the turbo is forcing into the cylinders than they can admit. In first, there's too little load on the engine, and all that fuel and air are being taken in and burned, sometimes making more heat than the valves and pistons can tolerate. In higher gears, the turbo's "backed up" and your boost readings are higher because the pistons can't get out of the way quickly enough.
