hey guys. so my car has been the equivallent of misfiring WOT in 4th and 5th gears. This happens when i am cruising and flogg 4th or 5th AND it happens if I'm pulling onto a highway ramp in 2nd gear and run it thru the gears (2, 3, 4...) and as soon as i hit the 5k-ish mark it might start misfiring. This does not happen all the time, it only happens when i slam on it. I have done a boost-leak test, as most would instantly perscribe... I have done it 3 times, with soap water, so I'm essentially confident that it's not a boost leak. I think it might be best if I order my guages at this point, and install my mbc... that stuff will be on order soon.

ANYWAY the point is I've had misfiring problems before and it ended up being arc'd spark plug wires. Is there any possibility this has nothing to do with my boost levels? Thanks for helping out.

(mods are minor, they're in my profile if needed) :hmm:

I had an issue like that, turned out to be a clogged fuel pump strainer. Try the fuel pressure gauge taped to the window technique and see if fuel pressure drops under boost. How are the EGT's under boost?

cough, logger, cough? Thats all you had to say! Check o2 under boost, that will tell you if it's a fyel or ignition problem. If lean is the problem, check fuel system. If rich, but not pig rich? check plug wires.

its rich, not heavy rich. wires brand new, just put in new NGK plugs, tried again, same problem.

i still feel like im boost spiking, is there any way to check this besides getting the gauge? im probably better off just getting the gauge anyway though. :ohdamn: i think im just gonna spring for the gauge and turn down the boost... sound ok?
