Airdrie,
Hey,

I have the oppertunity to buy 550cc RX7 injectors from a "rotory-head" friend for dirt cheap. They have a resistance of 12ohms and part # 195500-1370. The plastic at the top is reddish-purple and it has a rectangular plug. From the info I've gathered, these inectors sound compatible. But from what I can recall there must be some sort of modification to the injectors or the electrical wires for the injectors in order for these to work properly.

Can anyone explain the mod for the injectors in order to make them work?

Also...

I'd like to know the difference between "saturated" and "peak-and-hold" injectors and their pro's and con's in relation to installing them on a DSM.

Thank-you

Correct me if im wrong but I thought those were the high impedence ones that dont need modifications? I cant recall its been so long since I had to install them. The info is out there just takes a LONG time to sift through it al. Good luck!

Dsmtalk is back. Get the EVO injectors instead and avoid the problems.

they will bolt right in and work.just take out your resistor box for the injectors.they fit kinda tight, but the fuel rail snugs em right in.
low imped injectors(peak and hold) fire faster and usually can handle higer fuel loads.but since they use low imped, they draw more amps.which means they burn up easier and are more of an electrical load.high imped(saturated) are easier to install, since you dont have a resistor pack.all dsm ecu's see high impedance, its just the turbo injectors need more flow so they go with low ohms and a resistor pack.

so evo 6 or evo 7 or evo 8 injectors?

im guessing 7 or 8.. just need to be sure

so to sum things up:

if i get RX7 injectors off ebay i doint need a resistor packj (i saw em there 460ccs)
if i get evo injectors off ebay i need a resistor pack (i have the resistors to make me a pack)

so basically its a question of which injectors i find first for cheap

thanks for the info man :thumb:

turbo rx7 injectors should be at minimum 550cc. the 460s are non-turbo injectors, and a dime a dozen at the parts yards.

if you find 550s on ebay make sure they arent out of a third gen rx7 (93-95), or what is known as "side feed". those are in no way compatible. probably not an issue as those cars came with 2 550s and 2 850s, you probably wont find a set of 4 550 side feeds.
