Hey guys.

Just got back my old SMIM. It had some leaks so I took it in to get it welded. Went to put it on last night, and my car started idling around 2,500 rpms (usually hovers around 1,000).

When I went to put the throttle body back on, the two bottom bolts didn't get completely tight. I'm not sure if the guy before me just didn't use the right bolts or what. So when I sprayed break cleaner around those bolts, the idle went up and came back down. So I'm assume this is where my high idle is coming from?

I'm at work right now and just picked up some new bolts. But I just wanted to see what your guys' opinions were.

Thanks!

Yes I would assume a vacuum leak as you tested for. Fix them all and the idle should come back to your normal idle.

Run a tap through the threads just in case he might has screwed them up and put thread sealer or lock tite on after if they were bad.
