Independence,
:barf: wont idle after dsmlink install

My car has been down about 3 months so it gave me an opportunity to buy and install the following

FP3065 TURBO
WALBRO 255 FUEL PUMP
660CC INJECTORS
HAHN RACECRAFT FMIC
ALL IC PIPING
DP PERFORMANCE EQUAL LEGTH HEADER
FP O2 W/ TIAL 40MM WASTEGATE/w dump
DSMLINK

I ALREADY HAD 1G BOV W/ DAVE BRODE IC PIPING
3" TEST PIPE
3" THERMAL EXHAUST

Ok, now for the problem....I can get my car to idle fine with the factory ecu...but the 95ecu with the dsmlink it wont idle it will start sputter etc and just die...also I dont think my wastgate is closed tho cause I can feel exhaust coming out of the dump at idle when I have the stock ecu hooked up...so I am kinda confused....I know with the stock ecu I am running really rich...cause its pushing all that fuel....let me know what you guys think
:barf:

You've made quite a few changes.
Were these mods all done whithout restarting the engine and checking things out between your upgrades?
What kind of data are you getting from your link??

I made all of these changes without restarting because my 16g went out so I needed a new turbo ...the turbo I wanted required me to upgrade the rest....so I did it all...as for dsm link I cant get a good reading cause it will just barely start then die.... and if I try to capture data b4 turning it over dsm link gives me an error

Did you switch your spark plug wires? They fire in a different order on a 95 than a 97.

yep just like they told my at dsmlink....

I fixed the wastegate issue..it was a metal ring that goes between the wastegate and the 02 housing... wasnt there...put that in it works.....still workn on the ecu/dsmlink....issue

Who socketed the ECU for you? If it wasn't the guys at DSM link you might want to have it checked out. I had mine socketed by someone else, and they pulled a trace off the board. I had the same symptoms-car would barely idle. After the ECU was repaired everything worked fine.

Ok, first the wastegate....took my wastegate off (which sucked to get too) took me a while I had to unscrew the studs...cause there wasnt enough room to slide it off the studs..the power steering pump was in the way...so we took it apart...and we found a metal ring missing that seels it to the 02 housing keeping it closed from the dump tube...that problem is solved...ok as for the DSM LINK (yes dsmlink did socket the ecu)... first off thomas set it up for a hacked maf so I gotta change that setting..he says its prolly throwing way too much fuel in at idle...and stock firing order is at 4123 just like the other guy on here (per another forum I read)...I switched em to read (1432) per tom from dsmlink ...that is wrong...it goes
stock is 4123 and you swap 1 with 2 and 3 with 4 which makes it....

at the coil...

Your right about having to switch 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 at the coil pack. This should work, did you have dsmlink flash your chip for 660cc injectors? If not then you have to adjust the dead time and the global. Let us know what happens when you switch the wires.

ok the update is that switching the maf settings on dsmlink has now got it idling and the wastgate problem is fixed...I have a small exhaust leak at the manifold..cause my end stud broke off in the head...I was checking the bolts to make sure they where all tight (with a reg 12mm wrench) went to turn that one and the nut and stud just fell I didnt even tighten it at all just fell... so anyway I have to check my dsmlink logs I think Im running lean now...somehow....so I bought new plugs putting them in today and we will go from ther....

Good luck with the tuning.

You've got a good set up going. (injectors might be to small? But that's all dependant on what boost your running)

Once you get DSMLINK Figured out you'll love it. (I'm assuming V2 right?)

As for the bolt/Stud - it was probably overtightened the first time around and when the car warmed up the metal expanded and broke the bolt.

Thanks for the props man! :thumb: yea its a v2..I think I will love it..ther support is great...tom really responds quick with answers to questions etc...I would def recommend the dsmlink over any other system for a dsm :dsm:

ok guys so I found that I was over runnin the stock fpr ...so I got an aeromotive fpr and installed it...to bad I need an 1/8 to a 6an adapter to hook up my fp gauge...so right now I am running really lean per the o2...it was reading like.4 and .62 etc...but I cant tone since I cant even see what fp i am running...till I get my adapter....
