After about a year and a half, I finally have my Talon on the road. Well, I'm waiting for the paperwork and title to come back but that should be early this week. I have been doing little things to get it cleaned up and so on. Yesterday, I installed a boost gauge and mounted it to the steering column. I didn't want to drill my dash area up so I hacked up a gatorade bottle and used a nylon strap to mount it. Surprisingly enough, it looks decent. Anyway, I took it for a test drive and my boost is hitting 20 psi! It doesn't bother me too much but I thought the stock 2G setup was around 12-15. The only mod is the 1G BOV so I don't get it. If anyone has an idea, let me know.

Yes, the MBC essentially replaces your BCS - when you go to connect your MBC, one vacuum port of the MBC connects to the compressor housing (your "boost source"), while the other vacuum port of the MBC connects to your wastegate actuator. Keep these two vacuum lines as short as possible to minimize your boost spike. Block off the now unused port of your intake with a vacuum cap. Since you own a 2g, I would be sure to keep the electrical connector of your BCS plugged-in. Otherwise, you will throw a CEL. You may want to use two more vacuum caps to block-off the two vacuum ports of your BCS in case you ever want to use your BCS again in the future. If you adjust your MBC for minimum boost, your car should boost at the same level you reach when you connect your compressor housing directly to your wastegate actuator. In your case, it looks like you should see about 14 psi max with your MBC adjusted for minimum boost.

Thanks again for the help. I'm thinking about building my own MBC. I have access to our metal shop at work so it should be pretty straight forward.

Oh yeah, where do you get vacuum caps?

Thanks again.

Here is one source for vacuum caps: http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?CategoryCode=4016&SearchFor=Vacuum%20Caps. There is some debate on what to use as your boost source: the BOV tube or the compressor housing. There are arguments for either choice. However, I think most members of this forum will advise you to use the compressor housing as your boost source. This will allow you to control your boost with minimal boost spike.

Ironically, I found some info from oldman stating the reasons to use the housing vs. the BOV so I edited my post and pulled that question. Thanks for the parts help.

If you have any of the white storage rack things in your closet or anything, if you look on the ends of the little pole things there are little white caps on the ends that work great for caping off any nipples that you need to plug. Instead of buying them, this is free if you have them around the house. Ive also seen people put a screw in the vacuum hose and throw some epoxy on the screw so it seals. This is just a home-made approach, but it would be less ghetto to use the storage rack caps. I used them on my throttle body and they work great.:thumb:

I think I read of someone using those caps before but I have a 2 and a 5 year old running around so the protection from jagged metal comes in handy. I'll swing by Napa today and see what I can dig up. I'm hoping they have some Sea Foam as well. I have to admit, the car isn't as fun as it was boosting at 20. Oh well, the gas mileage should be a bit better.
