You may like the way they look, but they won't give nearly the amount of light output that a proper setup should. If you want HID's just for looks and not function, then by all means, go with whatever temperature you want. Just be prepared to piss oncoming traffic off, and to potentially get pulled over. This is based on my assumption that you will be placing these in a stock housing, and not doing a proper retrofit.

If you want HID's for function, get a 4300k to 6000k bulb. The 4300k is what comes in most factory cars that have HID's, and looks the most natural color-wise.. A 5000k or 6000k setup will give you a bit more color, but still be mostly useful.

Yes you can still see LOL. I also have 10k bulbs. You can still see fine however like said above you would have more advantage to see with the bulb temperatures around 5 or 6k.

You will, no one else will be able to though. Without a proper projector retrofit you wont have the cut off required to not blind oncoming traffic.

Brian There is realy no difference in HID upwards of 6000k besides color? There is no actual light gain?

I have two different sets of house bulbs at my place..2700k, and 6500k,and the 6500k is alot brighter than the 2700k.But those are not Hid, there just regular house bulbs..

No, 4300k will have the highest light output. 5000k and 6000k will add a bit of color, but should still provide adequate output per some feedback I've read on here over the years. Some people with 8000k bulbs say they work as well, but I'm very skeptical considering those people have never tried anything lower, as well as SharpHID saying they are not nearly as good as the lower bulbs.

Even sharpHID says there not as good as the lower ones huh..Thats very interesting..I wonder if theres a writeup anywhere of someone actually trying all of them..But I doubt there is..Unles SharpHID has some kind of write up on there site..

Oh do you know if there is difference between the cheap HID's and the more pricey ones?
I seen them advertised on tuners starting at 49 bux..

HID kits are illegal period.
Even a correct HID projector retrofit is illegal because it's not DOT approved. However with projectors you are less likely to get pulled over and you will see far better then some crappy kit.

HID's are only ileagal if they didn't come on the vehicle stock..Unless you can get a set of aftermarket headlights that come stock with HID's then that might be legal..

I see older vehicles running around all the time with HID's and I've never seen them get pulled over, even going right past a cop at night...

Edit - let me reword that in a less offensive fashion.

Please don't throw HIDs in stock housings, you tend to blind everyone around you. It's unsafe and a dick move, and may cause people to wish harm upon you.

Yeah I knows that it's still ileagal, but it seems like the cops are less worried about mods like that..So I would like to see more people get pulled over for ileagal hid installs..

Absit, it seems like some hid's are not as blinding as the other headlights are..Ive seen alot of hid's but only some are so freaking bright i Want to crash into them..Then some are not as blinding as others..

Actually they are now passing a law here regarding HIDs because it's become such a problem.
Cops do turn a bit of a blind eye to it but if they pull you over for something, they might also hassle you about the kit.

HID kits cause on wanted glare, period.

I know DSMers are cheap (some at least) but aren't we about performance? Why not spend a little extra and have a proper retro? It's not that expensive these days. Plus at the same time you don't look like every other Honda out there blinding people and not being able to see with you 10,000k bulbs.

You know why factory HIDs appear different colors, color flicker.
Tons of good info over here - HIDRetrofits | A High Performance HID Projector Retrofit Headlights Resource

I have my 10k bulbs in my cheap eBay projector lights. I've had them for quite some time and have yet to here anyone complain about them being blinded. But I have seen them is stock lights and yes they do blind other drivers and I don't think they look as good. So yes if you do get HID kit you should do it right and not look back.

I would get a retro too, but if you can't afford it right now just make sure you re aim your headlights.

I put a 55 watt kit with 12ks in my DSM when i first got my HIDs and aimed them a bit farther down and have not had a single problem. My buddy on the other hand left his aimed where they were with stock bulbs and he gets flashed every few cars at night. It only takes a few seconds to find level ground and a wall then lower them to a reasonable angle.
