Hi, i was thinking about buying a GSX

I am from Iceland, and own/owned a Toyota Corolla 1.6 SI (hatchback..came only in europe) ( http://www.simnet.is/gen/corolla/DSC00925.JPG ) a boring 1.6 engine that pushed out 114hö and only changes where a green air filter and dual ANSA exhaust well anyway back to subject

I had little accident and that car so RIP . Now i collecting money for new ride (its going slowly..because i am 17 years old only and not rich parents kind kid )
and i was thinking about 95-97 GSX (i think is GSX, the one whit turbo and 4wd)
so...is there big difrients in 95,96,97 models? also do those 210hp work like they should? or is like a Corolla T-Sport...190hp and 0 torque, does Eclipses broke pretty often?

also one wannabe racer question for the end,
what kind of cars stock eclipse can take out? like Impreza Gt/Wrx?

The main differences between the 2g model years are the body styles (pull up a couple pics of a 96 & a 97). There aren't too many differences, but if you're concerned about something specific, let us know or do a little research.

Yes, a GSX is the All-Wheel-Drive version.

Do the 210 work "the way they should"? umm... I would hope so. Do the research dude. Lots o' torque. Not like a "T-Sport" w/zero torque (better known here as a honda).

Do they break pretty often? In a word... yes. I mean... I'm sure that they wouldn't break that often of people took care of them, but they can be pretty finiky when it comes to having problems. The problems I've had with my Talon TSI AWD, and Eclipse GSX have included: Broken timing belt (bent valves) on the Talon, and crankwalk (I'm not gonna explain this one...) on the GSX. Just be sure before you buy one that you have it completely checked out. If you take care of the car, it'll take care of you (hopefully).

And for the last "ricer" question.... research research research. You wanna compare it to other cars? Do the research. Every one of the above questions could have been answered by typing in "Eclipse GSX specs" into yahoo. Good luck.

Are Eclipses even popular over there? How much and how rare are the GSX's?

between 95-96s vs 97s:
- different front and rear bumpers
- 95's ECU is programmable, meaning you can use something like DSM Link on it, 96s and 97s weren't.

Other than that there really is no difference.

And even then... only SOME of the 95 ECUs were EPROM. Not all. If you plan on going with a chip (such as TMO) or DSMLink, then yes... you'll need that ECU.

Do they break a lot? Well, in my experience, they only break once you start doing stuff to them. If you leave them stock they are fine and run great...as long as you take car of them also. But once you start upping boost and putting aftermarket parts on them, thats when they start to break. And also when you buy a used one, be sure you know who owned it before you, if that person is notorious for beating on their cars, well, then you don't want that GSX.
