I have been reading and reading and get more confused as the days go on. this is what i want to do. I want a decent tune and to be able to get my car inspected legally in NY state. I am running rich right now and and throwing codes for evap. also throwing codes for O2 which i think is from installing the wideband.

I have:

96 GST spyder frankenstien. not sure if its the original 96 motor or CAS

rc five fifty injectors
MAF-T with 3" inch GM maf
190l walbro
16G @ about 17lbs stock regulator
fuel lab pressure regulator
Innovate lc1 wideband
3" cat back
etc.

i am beyond confused. not sure what the best method should be.

I would like to get DSMlink and bypass all the check engine issues and get a nice tune at the same time but not sure what ecu i can use with my 96

im on my way back to upstate NY in a couple days from philly and would like to get things sorted out as soon as i get back or atleast have stuff ordered

ECMTuning, Inc.

At the bottom when you order, there is an option called "socket/conversion" and if you want to use your ecu, youd pick 2g non-EPROM ecu conversion(send yours in and they will get it all ready for ecmlink).

I have the stock 96 non-eprom in there now but my buddy is going to be parting out his gsx and selling his setup which is a 95 eprom with V2 and cable. wondering if that would be a good option especially for the price or just bite the bullet and go for V3 or possibly by the 95 eprom with V2 and upgrade to V3.

Yes V2 will work for now, but it's going to have to be pretty cheap. You can get V3 full for a 2g for 5-600 with an ecu. The conversion is what, like $200? And to upgrade from V2 you need the cable, ecu, circuit board, and chip. So if you can get it for 2-250 it's an alright deal, but I'd highly recommend upgrading right away if you do buy it. V2 is light years behind V3 full and will make life much much easier.

Or you can go the route I've done, by selling all my Link accessories and have gone to an Evo 8 ecu with tactrix.

great thanks a ton. Now i should be on the right track. ill look into it some more but i searched the forums on here and ecmtuning just hard to get a straight answer. Hard to drop up to $700 on an educated guess. thanks again. Ill talk to the guys at ecmtuning also and see what they suggest too

With me I decided to get one device and call It a day, you can upgrade your version at anytime, its simple as that. Sold my maft box and made some money.
