so i picked up a 92 talon tsi awd yesterday.the mods are free mod intake,FMIC,16g evo 3 turbo, xspower manifold,o2 dump 3'' down pipe,bc 272 cams,2g injectors, dejon bov,arp headstuds, act 2100clutch.the person i got the car from has the bov vented and from what i read thats no good.im experiencing rough shifts and terrible 1.5-3,3.5 performance. I'm guessing the rough shifting is from the venting of the bov its falling on its face after it dumps but then fine again.as for the low end i got it in the shop today and saw he had cracked the turbo(where it connects to manifold) on the exhaust side by tightening a bolt to much so the corner and half the thread is gone.its not a bad leak but its there.and i believe my wastegate is leaking because exhaust is always coming out of the dump tube which for turbo vehicles i thought exhaust was only supposed to come out once the turbo reached set boost to relieve excess exhaust. i tried loosening the threaded rod and turning it to close it but nothing happened.and with this dejon bov should i just hook up a hose and stick it on the manifold anywere or is there a special location.and its boosting to 20 psi with the mbc turned down all the way.any help apreciated

ive just seen the bov goes to the part of my intake that goes from filter to turbo that is taped off on my car right now with electrical tape:ohdamn:

I don't really think venting the bov would cause your issues, but I drive a automatic so maybe its different for stick I'm not sure. I think it has more to do with the other things that you mentioned as for the mbc the tighter it is the more boost you'll make if your trying to make less boost loosen it up, if that fails I would buy a new one or make one if you good at that stuff there's a video on YouTube (just search poor man modes mbc)

Wow, that's a nice setup. However, 2G injectors (450cc) + E316G @ 20psi? :ohdamn: You're right, to support that turbo, it needs 550cc(+) injectors from the EVOs and a way to control them (EMS System, SAFC)

Otherwise, turn down the boost to wastegate pressure (maybe a tad higher), and stay stock. :thumb:

And with this leak, you were still seeing 20PSIG? :hmm:

Up until reading this I was pointing to a stuck closed wastegate.

Also, this sounds like a Fake Evo3 16G. They don't have the adjustable threaded rod like the copies on eBay do, someone correct me if wrong here but my E316G doesn't

I'm interested in how the MBC is routed. Can you post pics? Is it a hallman or the ebay bleeder type?

You can take some radiator hose that fits and route it to that tube with the electrical tape on it. Or replace with the stock hose piece

Yup, rough shifts is from this being vented to atmosphere. The MAF has already calculated all air once it's passed through but during a shift the BOV vents some of this calculation to atmosphere :notgood:
Especially bad performance during WOT shifting

so you think the turbos a ebay knockoff.the mbc is a cheap ebay part.im gona try and take a video of whats goin on.il also take a pic of turbo.but the 20psi scares me with 450's i gotta fix that.no boost for me until its fixed:cry:this is my second dsm first one only lasted a week but then again i was 16 when i had that one.

also tomorrow i wanna look into geting 750cc's,maf translator and gm maf ### it says you can adjust for different injector size with that

The MBC might not be hooked up correctly so make a good note of how it is routed

I think that would be an okay combination, being that it kills two birds with one stone. Wouldn't have to recirculate the BOV and could run bigger injectors.

One thing about the MAFT is that you can't change timing. Also, you need to get a Wideband when you start playing with fuel. Lastly, eventually going to need to upgrade to a 190lph pump or a 255lph + adjustable fuel regulator. That would be a pretty safe setup :)

"Also, this sounds like a Fake Evo3 16G. They don't have the adjustable threaded rod like the copies on eBay do, someone correct me if wrong here but my E316G doesn't"

Mine doesn't have that so I think your eight in saying its a eBay one

The vented Bov usually creates a stumble type senerio when you shift the car or the Bov vents. I run an automatic and suffered from this issue for a while. I finally went to a Maft setup. Now it doesn't stumble any longer.

Yea sounds like a fake evo3. that is also probably why the flange has been modified. Those turbos sometimes have the holes wrong. Whoever had the car probably grinded that corner off in order to get the turbo to fit. Exhaust housings don't just break like that. if it is not leaking I wouldn't worry about it. As faras oyur other issues, I sent you a PM.

Also I don't know if Turbo x's makes a manifold for a dsmflanged Turbo. Correct me if I'm wrong.

First things first, mechanical maintenance! When was the timing belt, tensioned so on replaced? Then I'd correct all the issues. Fuel mods? You'll need a larger pump, rewire mod, and adj for, also at least some 550cc injectors and an SAFE or promise your ECU (recommended) and use some sort of running software.

If you're on a budget you can find all of this in the classified section I'm sure and save some money.

Good luck, hope you get it all figured out.

I put a 255lph as soon as I got it back to my shop don't know about rewire mod have to read up but ya I'm lookin for 750s maft maf and new turbo

If youre not sure about the turbo, snap a pic of the compressor housing and we can tell you whether or not its fake by what it says on it.

And I'm surprised no one has said this, but get a wideband if you don't already. too many mods not to be measuring AFR's accurately.

it was a knockoff turbo it now has a real td05 on it.most problems are gone besides the shifting deal.i took off the boost controller and its back to 10 which is not as fun but on the brightside its safer what would be top psi limit with my setup though cause im buying a legit one soon. i got some 780cc injectors so now all i need is dsmlink and a driveshaft(my midshaft bearing is gone)and im gona crank up the boost:hellyeah:.###### gona get a t-belt kit to mines a little loose not bad but not gona take a chance.also when i hit a bump sounds like the rear right tire is bouncing around alot havent had time to get it on the lift but checked for movement when it was jacked up and it was solid what bushings are prone to go out back there.

my back wheels are cambered in too
