Ok, I have a Haynes manual that says I need a 13mm alan socket to take apart the DOHC head on my 90 eclipse GS. I tracked down a 13 mm and it was too big. I've also heard that it could be a 10mm or a 12mm. Somebody give it to me straight: 10mm or 12mm??

Thanks for the help.

are you talking about removing the headstuds? thats all that i remember having an allen head...

what exactly are you trying to take apart? is the head off the car yet? and stock systems have head bolts not studs, so those would not use an allen either.

That is correct, you will need a 10mm Allen socket to remove the head bolts from a 6-bolt motor.

oh now i see you need the allen socket, not just the small little wrench! my bad, its been so long since ive messed w/ stock head bolt that i forgot about the 10mm allen socket, which is correct. Ive been using only ARP head studs which just use a small allen to get them hand tight, then a 14mm nut to tighten them down. BTW I highly reccomend using the ARP head studs.

I have a 1G 7-bolt (94 Turbo Laser) and it took a 12mm 12point socket. Anyway it wasn't a special socket it was the 12 point i guess, i didn't count the points :D but i'm sure it was 12mm

Yep from what I've seen 7 bolt = 12 point ... 6 bolt = allen
