help plz engine gone!

My engine is threw. Heres the symptoms: loud tick sound coming from block, oil press doesnt go up when driving. not even past the first line, car heats up pretty fast after driving normaly, within 8-10 the car will start to overheat. I never let it get close to the red mark, but i know if i was to continue running the car it would get to the red mark. Anyone know what the problem might be? Im taking off the head to get checked for damage. If thats ok ill get the block rebuilt.

Do you have oil/water in there?

yea, fresh oil and water. Mechanic says blocks gone.

head gasket seems like the most likely culprit.

what gives you that idea? I hope it would be something as easy as that but I dout it. So if I remove the head what should the gasket look like. Or what should I look for?

look at the exhaust... if there is a lot of white or blue smoke, and it smells like burning coolant, then its probably the head gasket...also check in the oil to see if there is any coolant in the oil....that would also indicate head gasket problems
