help pls with vramp

ok guys, i have a 91 laser n't and if i punch it it get to 6 gran and go's vramp like fuel cut. But if i just es into it at a stedy speed in one gear it will go to 7800 8000 with no problums.I think it is the fuel filter or pump could it be? Because i don't have the money to start dumping into my every guess. it has 17800 on it my wife thinks shes a racer and mybe she scwrud something up not shifting or something and not telling me. I don't know thanks for any help. brain
