Ok, so ive been systematically pulling parts of the engine to see what is causing what has been described as a rod knock, but to no avail. I pulled the oil pan today (after wrestling with the RTV job on it..) I found a few small things in the pan well. What looked like a small piece of aluminum (about the size of a grain of sand) but only 1 of them which makes me rule out rod knock as I would think there would be a ton more than only 1 piece. And then 3 pieces of what looks to me like a washer of some sort? My question is, can anyone identify what this was? and if so, where is the rest of it?

I have 2 more pics i'll upload once they make it to my email account. The small straight piece in the pic is RTV sealant, dont worry about that one. But this is the 100% entire contents of my oil pan.

hmm.. ive had the s16g on it since ive owned it, so you think this has just been sitting in there all this time?

Justin, you would be the ultimate say on whether this is a turbo bearing or not. any input?

that's why i love the search feature on here.. because HALF THE PICS NEVER SHOW UP IN THE THREAD, and those that did, guess what? THEY AREN'T THE PIECE I FOUND, HENCE THE THREAD. So those links were 100% COMPLETELY USELESS in helping me ID these pieces. But thank you for the warning about bumping anyway justin.

One of the key things to remember is that nothing inside the engine is made of a non-magnetic yellow metal. No bearings, no pistons, no clips...nothing- only turbo parts.

The center housing of the turbo is conveniently connected to the oil pan via a 5/8" metal tube from the factory...so when your T25's thrust plate decides to explode, and they all will at some point, those small parts are going straight to the oil pan.

Just out of curiosity, I know the width of the piece isn't thick enough, but couldn't something like a brass or bronze valve seal trickle down there? or is it physically impossible for its size?

Valve seals are rubber- I'm guessing you mean a valve guide, which I suppose could explode and somehow find it's way to the oil pan...but it doesn't look anything like what you posted. Valve guides are a long tubular shape.

If you explode a valve guide where you get chunks of it in the oil pan... you have some real issues to deal with...

Only the tops of the guide would make it into the oil pan, the rest would end up in a runner..If intake it would end up on the top of the piston, if exhaust then thu the turbo it would try to go.

Bronze guides are a good upgrade for those looking to run more than 25psi (IMHO) they will absorb and radiate more heat to the head casting/water jacket than a stock iron guide.
