Actually I do play games on my laptop, CSS, UT2004, and COD. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300(XPS M170), Intel 2.2g DualCore 667 fsb, 2 gig DDR2 667mhz ram, 80gig sata HD, Nvidia 7800 Go GPU, 17" W/UXGA HighDef display, Centrino a/b/g/3g internal wireless, bla bla bla. This laptop blows my desktop computer away in every respect. I did go out and get a Logitech G5 gamer mouse cause I hate touchpads, the mouse rules.

As for a light laptop, the IBM laptops are nice and small but they are also rather lacking in performance.

The HP/Compaq laptops are ok, just make sure you get the extended service plan cause you will break it.

Alienware = overpriced

Acer eh ok for most but its not high end stuff.

The Sony laptops are ok but they always run hot and battery life sucks on em.

How much did it cost ya to put the 7800 in the 9300? Thats what I got, with the Geforce Go 6800. how much of a performance upgrade did you see?

Alienware........;) unreal

Alienware Tech Support........non-existent :toobad:

Although I do agree 100% that their laptops kickass:thumb: and also a great alternative to "dude I got a freakin dell."

You could also try:
-Falcon Northwest
-Ibuypower
-Systemax
-Cyberpower

If your not into the whole mainstream PC thing
Good Hunting:thumb:

Well hopefully ill deicde int he next few days, tax returns = 2300$ :p every penny back

DO NOT get an alienware. they used to be awsome works of art, but that was before they switched to a different manufacturing company to make their laptops. now thew are just giant pieces of shit.

get a compaq, hp, m-tech, or gateway laptop. anything else just lacks in quality, even dell.

turion 64 2800+
1 gig ram
radeon x200 video card

Using it as a laptop or a desktop?

exactly. Laptops aren't used for gaming unless you plug them in and make them a desktop. But then it isn't a laptop anymore...

Whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A COMPAQ!!! I have a presario R3000 and it's caused me more problems than i've every owned. So far my screen's broken twice and right now it's being fixed because it won't even turn on. I really recommend buying something besides a compaq if your considering it.

no, i still use it as a laptop, i also take it to my classes with me. i have a desktop that i use to ONLY game on, i just use my laptop to game on when i am on campus. i was just giving an example that you can in fact use a laptop to game

Yeah i have to wait till I get some more cash, hopefully by end of this month beforei make a descion, Ir eally like the compaq v2000 im probably going to go with that...

If my brother was reading this he would say, "Get a Mac"

The ONLY reason I own a Mac is because I do a lot of computer graphic editing and movie editing. Other than that, I really don't think I ever use it for anything else.
