I have all the wires and stuff disconnected, i took the tranny/motor bolts out. Carrier bearing on the drives side, i unbolted it from the motor. I thought i have everything but i cannot seperate the motor and tranny. Its connected just under the battery tray somewhere, i cant see where, any ideas? I have both motor mounts ALL the way off, so thats not binding me up. Im confused.

90gsx 5 speed

The transfercase has to be dropped in order for me to lift the motor out right? Im leaving the tranny in the car.

I have the 5 17mm bolts out, the driveshaft is still in, but i cannot pry the transfer case off the tranny, what am i doing wrong?

Transfer case has to come off in order to pull the engine out. Also, did you get the 12mm bolt on the tranny to engine? 12mm head that faces the DRIVER side (all other bolt heads face pass. side). Bolt is just behind wher the axle goes into tranny. Lots of people forget that
Since you have everything else unbolted, I would just bolt the trans back up to the block, pop the axles and pull em both out together.

Still cant find it. I decided to stop before i got mad. If i bolt the trans back up to the block, can i just disconnect the driveshaft and pull the transfer case to? Anyone have any pics?

The engine won't come out with the t-case still attached. Unbolt the tcase, and it will come out.

www.vfaq.com Under drivetrain section, there's a write-up on how to do clutch swap and also tranny removal. http://vfaq.com/mods/clutch-1G.html

Remove any remaining transaxle bolts (including the top one you left in before). NOTE that there is a bolt under the starter on the engine block that goes into the bellhousing. You need to remove this from under the car (note a better view of the speedometer cable from here too).

If i am seeing that right, i have it out also.

Do the axles have to be removed to drop the case? They are in atm.
