I am in serious need of some help. Recently, my car has been taking forever to start on the first start of the day, every other start for the rest of the day is fine. It has even gotten to the point that I try and crank it over some many times on the first start that the battery ends up dying...even leaving jumpers hooked up to it dont make it any quicker. My mecahnic told me that I needed to replace the fuel pump and I did that...I bought a Walbro 255lph fuel pump and installed it and still it will not crank over. It almost gets there but never does. No my mecahanic told me that he said it was not a fuel pump that I needed but a check valve even though he wrote on a piece of paper that I needed a fuel pump. I called mitsu and they said that there are 3 check vales located right around the vapor canister but I have no idea where the vapor canister is. I wasnt sure if my problem is a check valve which some of my other dsm friends have never heard of or if my probelm is related to the fuel pump regulator on the fuel rail. One other thing I forgot to mention is that the day I picked it up from my mechanic and he deduced that it was my fuel pump I had a horrible time getting the car home, if I gave any type of moderate or heavy acceleration the car would shut itself off as if it wasnt getting enough fuel, I had to keep the car around 20 to 30 mph the whole way home and it has never done that before. I have a 1997 (2G) eclipse 2.0L turbo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to put a fuel pressure gage on the car and see if you are getting the correct pressure and/or if the pressure is falling off. I hope you have an fpr for that 255 if not you will over run the stock regulator.

well try replacing your fuel filter? make sure all the fuel lines are clear and not clogged,
also you are using premium fuel right? check that out

anyways if you havent done a tune up its also the first thing you should be looking at.
