im referring to my 90 plymouth laser RS

i had a CEL so i went to the auto parts store and asked for the diagnostic tester to plug it into my port and find out what codes im throwing, the tester they gave me was supposably specificly for 88 to 95 chrysler/plynouth for any model.

i have been told my diagnostic port is the rectangular plug in thats under my dash on the left side.. it has a rubber boot over it, but the tester they gave me did not fit at all and looked completely different with like 4 or 5 huge prongs instead of like ten lil prongs.... i talked to a ase certified mechanic and he said it would be under my hood

can anybody tell me where my diagnostic plug in is?.. is it the one under the dash that i think it is? or is it under the hood somewhere like the mechanic said?

it would really be awesome if someone could post a link with a picture of it

any help appreciated, thanks

Another way to test it I found is with a multimeter. I set the multimeter to millivolts DC. Put the probes on I believe terminals 1 & 12. Then my multimeter will beep long long then short or what ever the code is. 12vdc will overload the millivolt setting and make it beep, Hence giving you the code. Im cheap and I had one in my garage so I just use it.:D

Your question on the location. It is located under the dash, drivers side, on the left side.
