Hey all, i recently had a thread which asked for help in finding coilovers for a FWD 1g, i believe to have found my answer in the megan racing coilovers for FWD in bonehead racing and the ksport FWD coilovers.

I would like for people who have had experience with these products to chime in and PLEASE help me in my decision with which one to purchase because both of their descriptions sound very similar feature wise and the price difference is only $120 dollars apart so price is not the problem.

SOMEONE with experience please help me decide once and for all in this matter, WISEMAN opinions specially welcome.

Thanks again for all the help in the past people:rocks:

WOW REALLY!!!

So if i purchase any of the three they're the same?????

This just gets more frustrating by the minute ROFL

Pieeyedpiper, any experience with any of them, i read at the evo forum that the megans were topnotch, but this a 1g we're talking about here, and to top it off FWD.

Any help is appreaciated:rocks:

I had megan racing coilovers and I hated them, enough to the point where I put the factory springs back in the car. Way to stiff of a spring rate for my taste.

Based on your preferences in your other thread, I think you'd do better with the Ksports than the Megan Racings. Spring rates for the Ksports are listed at 8 and 7 kg/mm F/R. I wasn't able to find FWD rates for the Megan Street coilovers (have you confirmed they make them?), but if their AWD numbers are any indication, they will be much stiffer than the Ksports.

I'm not familiar with the suspension geometry of the 1Gs, but I'd be willing to bet that the Ksports will adequately accommodate the corresponding drop in ride height without resulting in an unbearable ride quality, assuming the shocks are appropriately matched to the application. The Megans might be preferred from a natural frequency point of view, but for your purposes that's pretty much inconsequential.

Thanks donmagicjuan, apparently they list them in the boneheadperformance site(the megan racing coilovers FWD) but am not sure, anyway so the ksport are the only 1G FWD coilover set i've found so far, everything else is for AWD.

The spring rates for the ksports are Front 8/448, Rear 7/392, are these any good if at least intend to visit the track once or twice?

Oh i and i found the d2 coilovers at 7.5 kg front and 7.2 rear , are these too soft too be used in daily driving and track?

Any help on this is appreaciated as i am nearing my decision, thanks again.:rocks:

I'm sure you will be favorably impressed with the difference in performance of any of these options over a stock configuration. Because you're a FWD, I would probably opt for the Ksports with slightly more front end roll resistance bias. If you really want to get in the weeds with it, however, knowledge of some suspension geometry specifics (e.g. motion ratios and corner weights minus the unsprung mass) would be the best way to make a truly informed decision here.

The main thing you want to avoid if you plan on visiting the track is lowering springs. If you do a little research on these, you'll find that most of them have rates that are barely stiffer than the stock springs. They're a cheap way to drop your ride height, but really all they're good for is appearance IMO.

Now my question is does anyone who owns a set of ksports have any advice on a setting for the street, balanced for a little track or any advice for setting them? I'm really new to the whole coilover thing so pardon my noobness.

Thanks again peeps:talon: :thumb:

I only have experience with the D2 coilovers out of the previously mentioned ones. I have sold many sets of the D2 fwd coilovers and the spring rate is almost perfect for most people driving on the street. If you need a little stiffer when you go to the track you can preload the spring a little bit. They are by no means a "soft ride" though. They are a little stiffer than stock. PM me if you have any other questions or would like a price.

Man wayne where were you earlier in the post?

I searched for some coilovers high and low till i found the ksports for 780 + shipping obviously, but i'd really like your help in explaining what you meant by "preloading" the spring.

And thanks again for the help.

BTW The d2's look very beautiful:rocks: :thumb:
