Help ASAP!! Problem Accuring After Timing Belt Job..

I have 1990 talon AWD turbo.
We just got done removing BS, Put new ACT 2600 in and new timing belt and tensionor..

We got everything back together, After putting the timing belt on we try to hand crank over the crank and we are accuring resistance.

We put the clutch on properly with alignment tool and followed all the step by steps on Vfaq for the BS removal...

Is there something we may be overlooking thats accuring this resistance?
Also all the timing marks light up and the two dial holes on the cam gears are facing up.

the second picture is an AEM UEGO gauge saying POO

the third and fourth pic show a metal piece of SOMETHING act apparently left in there and was hitting the trans bellhousing!

so WHAT THE F*(^

anyone from act on this forum so i can find where to send my bill for $300 trans labor!?!?!?

OK so we found out what was stopping my motor from Hand Cranking over by the crank pulley. We remove the tranny after a fresh ACT2600 Clutch install and find a freshly scrap mark on the inside of the tranny case. Also with the tranny off we could hand crank over the motor with the crank pulley witch eliminates the factor if it touching the valves like someone said on another thread.

Anyhow we look at the Pressure plate bolts and determined witch one was stopping the Pressure plate from spinning free. Its a small silver anodized alum plug that was pressed into a hole on the pressure plate (pictures below). We are unsure if its a defect from ACT or if we are to remove the plug? My mechanic said he didn't have this issue at all with a ACT 2600 install in his old 2g.

Has anyone else ran into this issue?? What should we do???

In This Picture is my ACT2600 Clutch. The red arrow points to the bolt/plug thats catching on the tranny case.

In This Picture u can see a ACT2600 pressure plate i found on-line. If you look closely u don't see the bolt/plug i put the arrow to on my Pressure plate..

In This Picture you can see the bolt/plug i am refuring to. Its right above the pink sticker. Its the left one out of the two.


Real question is, Can we just remove that without damaging anything??? Would it throw off the balance of the PP and ruin the clutch????
 
ok as far as your cams and shit goes, as long as piston #1 is UP the crank ITSELF is in time... because there is only 2 positions for piston 1 when its not connected to cams in any way ... its either UP OR DOWN..... put the piston up and the mark on the plate for timing the crank should be lined up with the mark on the block. as long as you dont have balance shafts ur okay (dont remember if you do or not) anyway after that, time your cams by making sure the dowel pins are UP and the notches are facing each other level with the valve cover gasket-surface. done deal ur TDC.

wrong - you ever look at a block with the head off slick? turn the crank ~1/4 turn and all 4 pistons will be about half way between up and down - all 4 outta the way of the valves

the timing WAS correct the problem is with this damned ACT clutch

I am waiting to hear an explanation from ACT before i put the car back together

I'm no at all pleased that i had to pull this trans a second time.

If you do it right, because theres so many ways to spin the crank wrong. I'll be nice and let you in on a little known secret of the english language, read below.

You're is really you are, the apostrophe indicating that the a is missing:
e.g. "You're really tall and your spiky hair makes you seem taller!"

Your is a possessive pronoun (as in hair, in the previous example)
e.g. your car, your phone, etc.

Let us know what you figure out with ACT. And if you could give us all soon-to-be ACT users a way to test/look out for this problem in the furture that would be nice :)

maybe you misunderstood what i was saying, TIMING-WISE there are only 2 positions for piston 1 its either up or down.... not intake/power or compression/exhaust.. those are all valve-train induced stages... when the crank is not tied to the valvetrain it has no "stroke" for proper time it's either "piston 1 up or down"
i hope that made some sense.. sorry i didn't say that the first time... and i was just trying to help you out man...

i am competent with timing stuff - just thought i was overlooking something when the motor wouldnt spin

but hey is was the clutch

ill keep you updated on teh ACT situation
 
How far does the plug stick out relative to the bolt heads and other metal surfaces along the same diameter of the disk? If it's only a few thou, take the grinder and shorten the surface of the plug. What's the plug hitting on the bell housing? If it's nothing structural trim the housing a wee bit.

yeah i will probably end up grinding off part of the trans tonight

makes me angry still.............
 
do you think that maybe trimming the clutch / bellhousing is a good idea? it doesn't solve the root of the problem... you may have it improperly installed... sure cutting it up would fix it and allow it to spin but what about later on down the line.... i dont know anything about clutches because i have an a/t but, still... i wouldn't trim my torque convertor just cuz it didn't fit.... i'd make SURE it was installed properly... just a thought to consider.. :)

yes, i hesitated like crazy to grind off part of the bellhousing.....but i checked, and rechecked EVERYTHING

i called and emailed act pictures - and they claim they have never ever seen this happen before?!?!

anyhow, we ground off a small bit of the trans....and the car has about 200 miles on it so far with teh balance shafts out, clutch in , etc....and its driving fine so far
