heats not working, engine studdering.

the car only studders when i go to gas it hard. I am thinkin it needs new spark plugs and as for the heaters im thinking a new thermostat. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Does the temp gauge work? Does this only happen when the car is cold? How about when your drive does the heat work then?

the temp gauge appears to be working fine. Even when the car is warmed up it does not spit hot air. the thermostat goes from cold to no higher then the half way point.

Make sure the knob is switching from cold to hot. See if you can tell a difference in the temp when on cold vs hot.

Also check both heater hoses with the car at operating temp. Both hoses should be hot. If 1 is hot and the other is not the chances are the heater core is clogged.

The engine stuttering sounds to me like a boost leak. Any mods on the car?

The car is bone stock, so hopefully its not a boost leak.

pull the knob off and make sure its not broken where it slips on the shaft.

Even if the car is bone stock it could still have a boost leak, our cars are old and old stuff breaks.

of course, i just thought at only 50k miles that wouldn't happen but of course the vehicle is 13 years old.

i also noticed almost like a plastic burning smell...

check your coolant level, first thing you need to do when no heat is coming from the heater core is check coolant. The heater core bypass valve would be the next guess, along with a clogged heater core which is kinda difficult to accomplish.
